Three courses of Bearded Savagery
To Indonesia for one of today’s helpings of bearded savagery where Sharia Police in Indonesia are clamping down on ‘western influences’ by arresting young people dressed as Punks and sending them off for ‘re education’ (now why does that term make me think of whips instead of classrooms).
Here we have yet another Islamic nation, which cannot cope with difference, whether it be difference in gender, religion, sexuality or even thought. And they ask tolerance of us?
The Jakarta Globe said: “The Shariah Police reportedly arrested three punks and two junior high school students in the raid, Antara reported. The youths were released after completing religious re-education classes.
Banda Aceh’s deputy mayor denied reports that the youths had been arrested, explaining that they were only detained to be re-educated. “
The constant parade of Islamic nations brimming with intolerance for anything that is ‘not Islam’ is a complete contrast to how Islamic communities are treated in the West where they are tolerated and often indulged.
Maybe we as a nation should start being a little more intolerant of the intolerance of Islam.

Our second helping of bearded savagery is from Nigeria, where the Islamic group Boko Haram has been waging war against the Christian communities of the South of the country resulting in hundreds of deaths.
Their latest utterance is a call for the Nigerian President Mr Goodluck Jonathan who is a Christian to convert to Islam ‘or face the consequences’ as a condition for entering ‘peace’ talks.
The Nigeria News said:”Jonathan, who spoke through his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, on a day that fivesoldiers died in an attack on a security patrol team in Damaturu, Yobe State, by a suspected Boko Haram bomber, described the call as “rude and a mere blackmail.”
“The President cannot be intimidated by any group or individual. The President will never resign. He has the mandate of Nigerians to serve his father land and nobody should imagine that he will succumb to blackmail,” Abati told journalists in Abuja.
The sect, in a broadcast on Saturday asked Jonathan to either resign or change to Islam before it could lay down its arms against the country.”
Nigeria with it’s oil wealth and dynamic Christian community could be one of the economic powerhouses of Africa, but are cursed with a situation where their northern muslim majority states which make up 60% of Nigeria’s population are engaged in a constant often violent political-religious dispute with the non muslim 40% who live in the South. Oh and Sharia Law applies in the northern states as well, lovely, not.
To London now sadly for our third course with the news that the group who ran an Islamic organisation where several of the 7/7 bombers worshipped have resurrected plans for a mega mosque holding up to 12,000 people.
The London Evening Standard said :”The Tablighi Jamaat group, a Muslim missionary movement once described as an “ante-chamber of fundamentalism”, wants to build Britain’s biggest place of worship in West Ham. “
The Evening Standard added: It will have 40ft minarets, a library, a visitor centre and a 300-space car park at the Canning Road site. The scheme has aroused years of intense opposition since the group first submitted plans in 1999. In 2001, it agreed that worship would only be on a temporary basis. Permission expired in 2006 but the group continued to use the site.
In 2010, the council issued an enforcement notice but it successfully appealed against it last year and more than 5,000 people a week now worship at the site which houses several pre-fab buildings.
A spokesman for Newham council’s planning department said: “We are expecting another application by the end of this week and will then start a formal consultation process.”
Opponents say Tablighi Jamaat is a “sect” that preaches “separation and segregation”. Two of the 7/7 bombers, Shehzad Tanweer and Mohammad Sidique Khan, are believed to have prayed at a Tablighi mosque in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, and French intelligence officials said the group was an “antechamber of fundamentalism”.
The story continued: “Alan Craig, campaign director of MegaMosque No Thanks and a former Newham councillor, said: “The community is concerned about the harm this will have on Newham. It is inappropriately large, but we also have worries about the group behind it.” “

Those who said that Tablighi Jamaat would revive the mega mosque plan after the Olympics look like they’ve been proved correct. Sadly, the local authority that will judge the new application is Newham in East London and this local authority has become more and more ‘owned’ by Islamic interests as the years have gone by, so I don’t hold out much hope for this application being ultimately refused. Remember Newham is the area which had it’s MP Stephen Timms stabbed by an Islamoloon a few years back. Used to be an OK place when I used to visit it but not any more.
