UPDATE OH has been off air for a while possibly taken down by the authorities,. Guess we’re all potential Old Holborn’s now. I’m not going to go into the ‘scouse thing’ because its divisive at a time when division like this is dangerous and I see no value in stoking up division. A line apperars to have been crossed here by the authorities and liberty, including the right to offend and have challrnging views, is being lost. Arrests and gagging for the hurting of feelings is a sign of a society becoming enthralled by emotional totalitarianism. Other aspects of totalitarianism will be sure to follow.
It looks like one of the personages who is called Old Holborn has been arrested by Essex Police for making an off colour joke about the Hillsborough disaster. Now I don’t approve of the original comment by OH but giving offence like this should not result in a conviction, charge or even an arrest.
A bunch of justifiably grieving Scousers must not be allowed to shut down comment on this subject. If they manage to do this then who knows what nefarious group will do the same tomorrow. Will people be arrested because Hamas felt ‘offended’ by a comment or something like that?

Thanks for link, Furor, much appreciated. I’m following this battle with interest.
I used to be a regular visitor to Holby’s site, and I don’t remember him saying anything particularily controversial about Hillsborough. Maybe I missed that post, perhaps my memory isn’t as good as it was.
There was one post in early January and then nothing….except for a few comments. I thought perhaps he’d got fed up with blogging and cleared off to live “off grid” in Bulgaria.
I believe that OH’s comments were made on Twatter. The website ‘this is local Essex’ reported:
“On the Monday anniversary of the 1989 Hillsborough stadium disaster, in which 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death due to police failings, “Old Holborn” took to twitter.
The user wrote: “Liverpool has not let me down tonight. Bravo you child killing benefits addicted socialist monsters of the welfare state. I SALUTE YOU.”
Another read: “I remember the day, 24 years ago, when 2,000 drunken Scousers trampled their mates to death to watch thick millionaires play football.”
