Hey! The Liberal Democrats, they has gone down the toilet.

The Guido Fawkes site has some very welcome news for fans of political honesty and integrity and some not so good news for fans of the party of sex, lies, and a foot gaffer-taped securely to the mouth. It seems that a ComRes poll for the Independent on Sunday and the Sunday Mirror shows the Lib Dems languishing at a laughable 8%.

It couldn’t happen to a nicer or more appropriate bunch. Whether you are coming from the Left and dislike the idea of an ostensibly Leftist party working with the Conservatives or like me, you are coming from the Centre-Right and dislike the way in which Lib Dems seem to slavishly support the EU and the ECHR, or even if you are politically neutral and just dislike the ‘all things to all men’ way that the Lib Dems have operated, then this news is very welcome indeed.

It seems as if both the actions of the Lib Dems whilst in Coalition and the fact that they have been exposed as perves and charlatans on the national stage has really hit their support. Whether their former support will turn out for either Labour or the Tories or the headcases that make up the Green Party, is something that only time will tell. However I wonder how many former Lib Dem voters just will not bother voting at all, so disgusted will they have been at the constant parade of sex scandals, expenses scandals, plus the way that they promote the EU even if the face of growing evidence that it is both failing and not good for the UK.

Will we see the Liberal Democrats become an ‘Ex party, bereft of life’ after the Euro elections? We can only hope that they do and hope that people get out and vote in order to make the destruction of the Lib Dems as a viable political force a reality. There are a multitude of reasons why a person should not vote for the Liberal Democrats, what’s yours?
