Labour Mike Gapes MP going after the foreigner vote and turning the hyperbole up to 11

Another Labour ‘foreigner-fellator’ Mike Gapes MP for Ilford South

The MP for Ilford South in East London, along with the rest of the idiot left like Dan Hodges has been gobbing off about the recent high profile UKIP posters. In a statement on his website he went into full hyperbole mode and even tried to compare UKIP to the genuinely neo-Nazi Golden Dawn movement that has arisen in Greece. Let’s look at Mr Gapes’s statement on his website. His comments are in italics and mine are in plain text.

Far right and  nationalist parties have often sought power by blaming and scapegoating minorities and immigrants . We saw it in the 1930s with the rise of Hitler and the Nazis in Germany, and the similar unsuccessful activities here of Oswald Mosley and his British Union of Fascists.   Similar campaigns here waged in post war years by the National Front and British National Party ended in abject failure.   But far right parties have tended to do better in some other European countries.   In the  wake of the global economic upheavals of recent years we have seen the rise of the overtly neo Nazi Golden Dawn in Greece,  and nationalist and anti immigrant parties led by charismatic leaders in the Netherlands, Gerd Wilders, and France, Marine Le Pen.    Here in Britain we also now have a nationalist anti immigrant party with a charismatic leader. That party is UKIP.   It is basing its campaign on an explicit anti immigration appeal similar to its counterparts in the Netherlands, France, and elsewhere.

And what is wrong Mr Gapes in wishing to control unwanted and unsustainable levels of immigration? This unwanted immigration much of it either from or via the European Union is causing problems, it is causing problems in the areas of jobs, housing, health services, schools to say nothing of the increased levels of crime that immigration by people unsuitable to live in free and civilised societies has brought. There is nothing in the current UKIP campaign that could remotely be described correctly as ‘racist’, he also fails to see that nationalism doesn’t have to always go bad and end up as ‘jackbootery’ and that ‘nationalism is just a tool’ as the Conservative feminist commentator Tammy Bruce once said. It is the height of hyperbole to compare UKIP to Oswald Mosley’s BUF or Golden Dawn and Geert Wilders (note that Gapes cannot even spell his name right) is primarily concerned not with the colour of a persons skin but the ideologies that a person follows and promotes.

In a short tweet earlier today I stated

@MikeGapes: Hope Ukip racist posters encourage all decent British Commonwealth and EU citizens to ensure on register by May 6 and vote on May 22

In response I have received several very abusive tweets and emails.

Were these tweets ‘abusive’ or just disagreeing with you, that is the question that I have from this end?

It appears that I have hit a raw nerve. I stand by my view that this UKIP campaign is a racist, xenophobic campaign designed to win votes by whipping up animosity against foreigners living and working and contributing to this country.   And it is worth noting that some of the abusive tweets and emails I received are directed not at European Union migrants but at ethnic minorities overall and at Muslims in particular.

There he goes again with the misuse of the word ‘racist’ and typical of a Labour politician he can’t resist a bit of Islam-fellating. It may have escaped the notice of Mr Gapes but we do have a problem with excessive levels of immigration and we do have a problem with immigrants either taking the lower level jobs, pricing our own workers out of the market or to be quite frank poncing. It may also escaped his notice that Britain does have an ‘Islam problem’ which is affecting many areas both geographical and policy areas. You haven’t hit a ‘raw nerve’ Mr Gapes you have just shown yourself up as being yet another out of touch Labour politician going out of his way to pander to immigrants and certain iffy minorities in order to get re-elected.

I am proud to represent thousands of hard-working Ilford people, including first, second or third generation immigrants struggling hard to do their best for their families and society, faced with rising bills and falling real wages, job insecurity and lack of affordable homes.

Does it not occur to you Mr Gapes that the problems that you rail against may have some of their root in the years of Labour misrule between 1997 and 2010? You know when your government propped open the doors of the nation, imposed damaging green taxes and attacked hard fought for rights, like that of free speech. I and many others will not easily forget how Labour tried to stop the insertion of a ‘free speech clause’ into the 2006 Racial and Religious Hatred Act and how it was in Labour local authorities that the worst excesses of the Islamic Grooming Gang scandal were swept under the carpet for many years, purely to pander to your party’s Islamic voting bloc.

I am proud of the contribution that  migrants from Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and elsewhere in Europe have made and are making to Ilford, to London and to our country.

Of course we should be proud of those who came to Britain and contributed, but shouldn’t you also be showing some concern for those who were born here and who have paid in to the system and have got very little out because resources have been diverted to immigrants and minorities who Labour have decided are more politically useful to them than indigenous Britons? I couldn’t help but notice that despite representing a constituency in Ilford you left out Jews from that list of people whose families originated from overseas who have contributed. Why was that? Redbridge was once said to have more Jews than Tel Aviv and there is still a significant Jewish population in the London Borough of Redbridge. Are you worried that by praising Redbridge’s Jews you will upset the now more electorally useful Islamic bloc vote? I remember very well how back when the Iraq war was declared it was only the actions of the Met Police that stopped a gang of angry Muslims and Socialist Workers Party members from marching on your office with the intention of besieging it, is this the sort of thing you are worried about?

Our National Health Service has always depended on recruiting doctors and nurses from other countries. Many of our top business people, scientists and academics and Nobel prize winners are immigrants.

Maybe before you make such statements you should take a trip to Newham General Hospital in the neighbouring borough of Newham to see the extreme negative impact immigration has had on health services there. Maybe you should see the elderly Britons of Newham making do with piss poor and often sub-standard care, whilst the deliberately damaged products of Islamic cousin marriage swan round in the latest powered wheelchairs and are fawned upon by health service staff.

We do need much stronger action against bad employers to stop immigrants being abused and exploited by stronger enforcement of the minimum wage, tougher measures by Councils  against “beds in sheds” and prosecution of “cash in hand” employers. But it is dangerous fallacious nonsense to say that British workers are facing a threat from 26 million unemployed Europeans.   The real threat to British workers jobs and British society comes from the incompetent coalition government carrying out policies to cut taxes for very wealthy millionaires while millions suffer a cost of living crisis, creating a house price bubble while failing to invest in housing, infrastructure and skills, and privatising our national health service.

Whatever faults there are with the Coalition govt such faults pale into insignificance beside the utter shambles that the Labour government made of running, or should I say ruining this country. The roots of the ‘cost of living crisis’ and problems with housing and service provision are not the entire fault of the Coalition but are the fault of Labour. What Labour did to the UK will take much more than one five year government to put right. Labour created problems that may take decades to repair. Labour screwed up the economy, health service provision, public services, immigration, welfare and so much more.

Two million EU citizens live in this country but two million British people live and work in other EU countries and receive benefits, health, education and other public services there.  The prosperity of our country and the continuation of the Single Market depends on free movement of workers within the European Union.

Mr Gapes, you are being economical with the truth here. If a British person goes to France for example they are required to co-pay for their health treatment, there is no such requirement for foreigners to co-pay or contribute to their treatment on a heath service that was set up and funded by generations of Britons. Welfare in places like Germany and the Netherlands is not given out willy nilly, there is both a residence and a contribution requirement in many other EU countries that is not required under the British system. You are not comparing like with like. I doubt that the British citizens resident in the EU are costing a fraction of what foreigners are costing US the British taxpayer.

The policies of the nationalist right whether of UKIP here or Le Pen or Wilders are a threat to the future harmony of Our country and also to the future harmony and prosperity of the European Union.   That is why all British, Commonwealth or European citizens  living in this country should make sure they are registered to vote and vote to defeat  the UKIP extremists on May 22.

Mr Gapes, I think you will find that it is not UKIP or Le Pen or Wilders who are threatening future harmony in the UK, it is the problems that were caused by your Labour party that are still, despite having a change of government causing some seriously negative effects.

Your statement has proved what many people suspected, that Labour is no longer a party for the British working classes, but is instead a party for the benefit claimants, foreign scroungers, cheap imported labour and those who wish to promote the ideology of Islam. Labour is a joke and your statement is nothing but a blatant attempt to ‘vote-farm’ foreigners living in Britain.

You have proved that Labour still have no loyalty to Britain, British workers or British people. You have not ‘hit a nerve’ you’ve just made yourself look like yet another Labour traitor.
