When the story of the murders at the Jewish Museum in Belgian capital Brussels broke, my first thought was ‘is this the work of Bearded Savage jihadists’? I didn’t call it as a Jihad attack at the time as there are Jew hating fraggles of all backgrounds out there. I did say this could be an Islamic Jihad attack or it could be the work of a deranged Neo-Nazi.
It looks like I may have been wrong to be so fair-minded, this does look very much like it is an Islamic Jihad attack.
The AFP news agency, quoted by the JP Updates website said:
“A week after the horrific terror attack at the Jewish Museum in Brussels, French police claim to have the suspect under arrest, according to AFP.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Mehdi Nemmouche, a French national, was found Friday morning in the city of Marseille. The 29-year-old was carrying a Kalashnikov and a pistol of the type used in the Belgian capital, when he was arrested at the bus station Saint-Charles in Marseille by customs, while he was on a bus from Amsterdam via Brussels. He also hadGoPro-type camera.
Nemmouche was detained with suspicion of murder and attempted murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise, a judicial source said.
Nemmouche, a resident of the city of Roubaix, was known to French security services and is suspected to have fought alongside Jihadi elements in Syria in 2013, Le Monde reported.
The suspect kept silent for the first 24 hours of his detention, it was reported on La Figaro. His custody, which started mid-day on Friday, can last 96 hours, until Tuesday. If investigators request to term the suspect as an imminent terrorist threat, his arrest can be extended to 144 hours until Thursday, according to AFP.
“I really hope this arrest will bring back Jewish life to normal in Brussels,” Rabbi Menachem Margolin told JP, in a phone call after the arrest was announced.”

I did suspect that this was a Jihad attack when the Belgian authorities were being so cagey about issuing a description of the suspect and were using language in connection with the attack that obscured rather than revealed. Do not make the mistake of thinking ‘I’m not Jewish, these sort of crimes have nothing to do with me’. Crimes like this have everything to do with you, whether you are Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, atheist, agnostic or whatever. It is Belgium’s Jews who Islamic Jihadis have targeted today, but it could be you and your family which is targeted tomorrow.
There was a driving force behind the murders in Brussels, and that force has a name, and its name is Islam. Islam was born in hatred, grew in hatred and is hate-filled today.
