We’ve come to a point in Britain where parents need to make a big decision about how they deal with the British educational establishment. On the one hand is the status quo, the camp that the majority of parents appear to be in at the moment, where parents blindly trust the teaching profession to educate their children. On the other hand there is the camp of those who put their child’s educational needs first and foremost and have a healthy scepticism about schools, teachers and the Left dominated educational establishment. Parents need to decide whether they are going to be active parents and take a keen interest in what teachers are filling children’s heads with or whether they are going to be passive and leave it up to the teachers.
I’ve commented before on the issue of teachers departing from the path imparting facts and teaching skills and instead are involving themselves in Lefist or pro-Islam propaganda (you can find many of these by searching for ‘education’ in the F211 search box). I believe that British teachers and the educational establishment is now far too enamoured of Leftist and pro-Islam propaganda and have lost the right to be trusted by parents.
There have been two recent stories, one concerning higher education and one concerning primary education that should give all parents cause for concern. They show not only the enthusiasm of teachers to engage in outright Leftist propaganda to primary age children but also how a constant diet of Leftism has created a cohort of University age young people who cannot cope with different opinions.
It’s probably more appropriate to deal with the university story first, as this is the end result of teachers constantly pushing Leftism or denigrating the UK and its history. As is usual policy for this blog the original text of the source is in italics and my comments are in plain text.
Here’s the first bit of evidence from the Huffington Post showing why parents should take a much more active interest in Britain’s educational system, and also why we should take control and teach our children about evidence and how to have a meaningful discussion about various matters.
The Huffington Post said:
“A society called “Students for Britain” has been told it cannot exist as an official university group because the word “Britain” might have negative connotations for foreign students.
The pro-Brexit group applied to Keele University’s students’ union to be formally recognised, but was told there were several reasons it would not be ratified.
One reason included: “We felt the semantics behind the name of the group could be interpreted negatively on first glance, particularly with our internationally diverse student body.”
What on earth is wrong with using the word ‘Britain’. After all this is the name of the country. This is censorious Left wingery at its very worst.
Tom Harwood, chair of Students for Britain, told HuffPost UK: “We are disappointed that Keele Students’ Union refused to accept our society, particularly on these questionable grounds.
“We hope that they will reassess this decision, in order that students at Keele can be provided with a balanced debate.”
The students’ union told HuffPost UK it would not comment.”

The arrogance of the Student Union in refusing to comment or defend their decision should be noted here. Also important is to see how the constant diet of Leftism in our schools has created a student cohort who hate their own nation and who, because they cannot adequately or effectively defend their decision, revert to censoriousness. Yet again we have more evidence that the Leftist educational establishment is rotten from the top to the bottom. There should be no place for this ‘special snowflake’ or ‘safe space’ guff in our universities. A university should be a place where you hear challenging ideas, not a place where previously imposed Leftist nostrums are confirmed and left unchallenged. Higher and further education should be a place where you learn new stuff, bat around different ideas and concepts and help to grow the future, not stay stuck in a closed minded prison of ideology.
It’s no use wringing our hands though and wondering ‘how did we get here’, or thinking why did we end up with a situation where adult students cannot debate and are increasingly in favour of closing down freedom of speech? In my view the reason we got there is we allowed the Leftists of the educational Establishment, the teachers, the teacher training institutions and educational academia itself an almost free and unchallenged reign. Too many education ministers in the past have shied away from confronting the socialist knobwittery of the teachers, those who train them and their very powerful trade unions. Not even Margaret Thatcher’s government was successful in giving the Leftist education Establishment the political kicking that it deserved back then and still deserves. However, we cannot put all the blame on various governments for failing to tackle the scourge of Leftism in our educational system. We all must share some of the blame. Generations of parents, since the Plowden Report in the 1960’s have failed to stand up to teachers. We’ve failed to stand up for educational quality, failed to stand up against child-centred education, failed to stand up to those pushing emotionalism rather than facts. Most importantly we’ve often failed our children by failing to stand up to teachers who have crossed the line that divides education from indoctrination.
A recent report in the Daily Mail shows just how bad our schools have become with regards to indoctrination when a plan to hold a ‘transgender day’ at a primary school in East Sussex met with some resistance. Unfortunately this resistance by some parents is to be welcomed, but it was not enough to stop the headteacher putting a positive spin on things by claiming that those who were passive about this sort of indoctrination as active supporters of it.
Here’s the Daily Mail article in question.
“Parents have pulled their children out of classes at a village primary school over a ‘transgender day’ planned for pupils as young as four.
For the record I support the right of adults over the age of 21 to transition into another gender if they are so inclined, but this is not a matter that children need to be exposed to. Because many people do not fully complete puberty until their early twenties it is both inappropriate and dangerous to push transgender activist propaganda, for that is what it is, onto anybody younger than that. I fear that in the future there will be a lot of people who have personal image and even temporary gender image issues who end up being pushed down the path of transition, when that path may not be the one best for them. I’ve had a multitude of transgender friends and the one thing I’ve noticed is that for too many of them, transition has not cured or alleviated whatever underlying sadness has manifested itself in gender disphoria.
Three families have revealed they will not allow their children to St Mary the Virgin Primary School in Hartfield, East Sussex, for the classes, which are meant to help the pupils ‘explore’ their sexuality.
I would also pull my child out of these sort of lessons. They are grossly age-inappropriate.
Up to 10 others have also spoken out about their concerns about the plans, which were announced on Monday by headteacher Emma Maltby.
These parents need to start getting organised for a big fight with Maltby, she appears to be a far Left ideologue, and I wouldn’t want a person like that in a position of loco parentis over my child.
One mother, who asked not to be named, said the children should be ‘left alone’.
She said: ‘I don’t want my daughter being exposed to all this nonsense.
‘Kids need to be left alone when it comes to things like this, they just want to run around the playground not be told they need to “think differently” about gender issues.
Agree there. This is indoctrination pure and simple.
‘The whole thing is ridiculous and I hope the head gets the message and scraps it.’
If these parents want to get this teacher to start treating her parents as customers, rather than as irritants, which seems to be the case at present, then they need to organise. They need to get publicity for their cause and they also have to chip in and help those parents who are being pressured or threatened to go along with this guff. This could mean starting up a fund to pay the fines of low income parents who are angry about this indoctrination but are fearful of the financial penalty of keeping their child away from school when this sort of Leftist indoctrination is going on.
Another parent, who also wished to remain anonymous, said there was ‘great unease’ among parents.
You bet there is.
She told the East Grinstead Courier: ‘Some parents have announced their intention to keep their children from school on at least one day.
Go for it! It’s about time that more parents stood up to Leftist teachers.
‘Parents have said that they feel the welfare of their children is under threat from the instructions given in this document.’
I take the view that it primarily the job of a parent to decide how and what to teach their children about matters pertaining to sexuality and gender.
The classes, based on the Brighton-based Allsorts Youth Project, were proposed by the school in a bid to ’empower young people’.
The Allsorts website states that it creates a ‘safe space for trans and gender questioning children’, and allows kids to ‘explore and be themselves’.
It also says the programme will give kids ‘a chance to meet other trans/gender questioning children’, as well as taking part in ‘fun games’.
We need to ask just why extremely politically motivated Trans and LGB activists are being allowed to push a very one sided view of this subject onto children who do not yet have the intellectual capacity to judge this issue?
Ms Maltby defended her decision to hold the ‘transgender day’ before the Easter holidays, saying it was important to raise gender issues.
She said: ‘As part of the national curriculum, we spend time talking to the children about British values of tolerance, respect and celebrating differences.
Pure left wing crap-speak from Maltby. Why should we ‘respect difference’? Not all differences should be respected. A criminal is different from a non-criminal but we don’t or shouldn’t teach children that it’s acceptable to commit an armed robbery on a bank.
‘One of the areas we will be discussing shortly is gender identity and we felt that it was important to involve parents in their child’s learning by holding an information session.
It seems that many of the parents have become involved but not in a way that either Malby or the LGB and Trans activists would like.
‘We have had a very positive response to the event and the opportunity to learn more about this relevant topic, although three families have chosen to withdraw their children from school.’
In other words what has happened is that Maltby has counted those who are apathetic about this as active supporters. This is nothing but the usual Lefty spin that we’ve seen elsewhere when parents have criticised overt pro-Islam propaganda in schools.
She added that the school tried to give pupils a ‘well-rounded education’, which would help them ‘become responsible, independent people able to respect others’.
It’s perfectly possible to give a child a well rounded education, to be questioning, to treat people as individuals without subjecting them to this sort of outrageous propaganda.
As we can see from the bottom to the top, Britain’s education system is broken. Our education system has been deliberately and comprehensively broken by a cancerous political Left who’ve been allowed to grow unchecked in schools and colleges for far too long.
We cannot trust the government to reform Britain’s education, too many education ministers such as the current incumbent Nicky Morgan, are too in thrall to the Leftists who are paraded in front of her by civil servants as ‘experts’. Only parents can save their children from leftism in education either by home schooling if they are able to do so or by becoming their teachers worst nightmare, the active, opinionated and informed parent.
Our children and our children’s education are far too important to be treated by teachers merely as empty vessels to be filled with whatever is today’s Leftist flavour of the month. We can see from these two examples that the problem isn’t only confined to one level of Britain’s education system as the system is rotten from top to bottom, from nursery school to university. There are only one group who can clean out the moral and political cesspit that Britain’s education system has become and that is the parents. We need active parents for the sake of the children and for the sake of the future.
