This is such a well set out explanation of how Britain went from the divine right of kings to the 1689 Bill of Rights that it should be given out in British schools or used by home educators. In this video Tom Richey, explained how the desire for freedom grew among the English and how things like Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights influenced the American Colonists in how they managed themselves.

It should be a matter of great shame for us in the UK that it takes an American to tell the British about our history. We should amend that and teach our children all the stuff, like this for instance, that our schools are failing to teach.
