In my life I’ve met many people who have changed religions. I’ve met Muslims who’ve become Jews, Jews who’ve become Christians and Christians who’ve become Buddhists. We live in a religious marketplace where people can choose the religious path that both suits them and which appeals to them. The great thing about religious freedom is just that, the freedom.
Out of all the hundreds of people I’ve met or encountered who’ve converted to a non-Islamic religious path I think I can count on the fingers of one hand those who used their conversion as an excuse for or justification for violence. I did know at one point many years ago a born again Christian who kept a sawn off shotgun under his bed. I never did fully manage to fathom out the exact truth as to why he had a sawn off shotgun under the bed, but this person had some mental health issues as well as being attracted to a dangerously cult-like form of charismatic Christianity. I would not consider this person typical of converts to evangelical Christianity. I don’t think any other person, apart from this one fraggle, who has chosen a non-Islamic religious path that I’ve encountered has been violent or their path has encouraged them to be violent.
The situation with those who choose Islam is remarkably different. There is a steady slew of stories in the press about Islamic converts who commit acts of violence or get involved in terror plots. We’ve had Islam converts chopping heads off, travelling the world in the cause of jihad, raising money for terror and supporting Islamic terror in other more subtle ways. Islam both creates violent people because of its violent and hate filled theology and also attracts violent people who are unwilling to change and become non-violent, and who are looking for an outlet and a excuse for their violence. Islam is not a religion of peace and no amount of wishful thinking will make it otherwise.
The path of, choose Islam – find out about Islam – get violent, is a common one and a well-worn one.
Here is the latest story of someone converting to Islam and coming to realise that what Islam wants from him is not acts of charity but acts of violence. There is something about Islam that makes those who join it into scum. Many of those who I have encountered who’ve converted to Islam are dodgy. They have been either mad, are compulsive liars, have been damaged by abuse or have a dangerous and violent streak within them.
So many of those who choose Islam also choose, because Islam demands it, to hate those of other faiths. Here’s one of the latest stories of an Islamic convert choosing hatred and violence. This is from the Miami Herald in the United States of America.

A Hollywood man accused of trying to blow up an Aventura synagogue stood in Miami federal court on Monday and gave the judge two names — one real, the other an alias.
“My name is James Medina, also known as ‘James Muhammad,’ ” Medina told Magistrate Judge William Turnoff.
James G. Medina, 40, was arrested by federal agents on a charge of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, 20400 NE 30th Ave., during services on Friday. The actual bomb — sold to him in Hallandale Beach by an FBI undercover operative just before the planned terror attack — was a dummy, authorities said.
On Monday, federal prosecutors Marc Anton and Karen Gilbert told the magistrate judge that Medina should be detained before trial, arguing that he is a danger to the community and a flight risk. If convicted, Medina, who is being held at the Federal Detention Center, faces up to life in prison.
The judge set Medina’s bond hearing for Thursday and his arraignment for May 16. He also appointed the Federal Public Defender’s Office to represent him.
Initially, an FBI confidential source met with Medina and two of his associates in late March and discussed the attack plan for the first time, according to an FBI affidavit. In early April, Medina talked about the timing of the assault with the source, who mistakenly suggested it could be carried out in a couple of weeks on the Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur — not realizing the upcoming holiday was Passover.
Medina’s response: “… that’ll be a good day to go and bomb them,” the affidavit said.
One of Medina’s associates informed the FBI source that Medina was planning to martyr himself in a firearms attack on the Aventura synagogue, using AK-47 assault rifles — then, the affidavit said, the conversation turned to claiming responsibility for it. Medina said he liked the source’s idea of using the name of a notorious terrorist group — ISIS or al-Qaida-linked Shabaab — to assume responsibility.
“You can, you can do all that,” Medina told the source, who recorded their conversation. “Yeah, we can print up or something and make it look like it’s ISIS here in America. Just like that.”
Soon after, the plot shifted to setting off explosives remotely instead of attacking the synagogue in an assault-weapons raid, the affidavit said. Medina conducted surveillance with the FBI source.
Medina, who told the source he had converted to Islam four years ago, said the planned synagogue attack would inspire other Muslims. Medina would later express his “current hatred for the Jewish people,” the affidavit said.
An FBI undercover employee questioned Medina about his resolve: “You’re sure this is something you want to do?” Medina answered: “I feel like it’s my calling,” adding he was “comfortable” with killing innocent women and children.

It’s hard to work out when reading this story what came first, the violent man or the violent ideology of Islam? Did an ostensibly ordinary lawful man become infected with the Islam bug and choose violence or is this a violent thug attracted to a religion of violent thuggery? We don’t know with this one but what we do know is that those who convert to Islam are a problem and should be seen by society as a problem. Those who choose to accept Islam when they are not being forced to need to be treated with a similar level of opprobrium as we treat those who make excuses for paedophiles. A sensible person would question the motives of someone making excuses for nonces and we should have a similar level of questioning of the motives of those who choose Islam.
We all need to recognise that choosing Islam is not choosing life, it is choosing a death cult and those who choose death cults need to treated with suspicion.
