Even the largest and most mighty oak tree is at first merely the tiniest acorn. Furthermore, this acorn has to face obstacles such as predation or rot before it can flourish and grow into a tree. I think of the acorn and what it can become, when I look at some of the coverage of the Silent Walk for Orlando which took place in Stockton on Tees in England’s North East. It’s fair to say that this was a smallish demonstration but it should be borne in mind that this was the first demonstration of its type in the UK where LGBT people and their allies step off the leftist plantation and speak the truth about the threat posed to LGB and T people from the ideology of Islam. Before I continue I must offer my effusive congratulations to those who organised and attended this event and I was sorry I couldn’t be there (child care duties I’m afraid) but I will try to attend the next one when it happens.
It’s obvious that the Left are concerned over the possibility that LGB and T people might start thinking for themselves or the Left and various Islamic grievance mongers such as Tell Mama wouldn’t have attacked, and keep on attacking, those who put this event on. This event had all sorts of obstacles put in its way but it still went ahead, that takes guts and determination not just on the part of the organisers but also those who took part. The organisers had to face incompetence and what looks to me like malevolence from the local police who according to some accounts I’ve seen, messed the organisers around a lot. They had to cope with an astroturfing episode where a far Left created ‘LGBT Against Islamophobia’ group popped up all of a sudden. It goes without saying that the Stockton event was also attacked by the mendacious grievance mongers of Tell Mama who also tried to solicit support for the event’s opponents.
It takes time to grow a movement whether that be political or social. It takes determination and effort to build anything that is worthwhile. This is especially the case when a group or an individual is challenging false, but widely and lazily accepted assumptions, about a subject, in this case they really are. The gay community itself is a prime example of people who stood up for their rights even though their opinion went against the received wisdom of the time. Within my own lifetime we in Britain have gone from a land where people could be jailed for merely being gay to one where a large number of people don’t give a toss what people do in bed, provided that it’s between adults and that what they are doing is safe, sane and consensual. We’ve got that position of freedom because individuals stood up against the crowd and spoke up about stuff that was contrary to what the mass of people believed at the time. What the LGBT #WeStandWithOrlando group did was ground breaking for the UK. For too long the UK Left has ‘farmed’ LGBT people and has lazily and arrogantly assumed that they would follow whatever bit of mentalist Left-wingery, no matter how unappetising, such as the ‘LGBT Against Islamophobia’ idea, that the Left served up. No more can that be said to be the case and this is because a small group of brave people stood up and told the truth about Islam and the exterminatory gay hatred that this ideology encourages.
As a former Left winger myself I know how easy it is to roll with the crowd, to unthinkingly shout ‘Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, out, out, out’, or some other similar empty slogan, it’s so easy in fact it takes no thought whatsoever. It takes no bravery to carry a ‘No Nukes’ banner among 100,000 other card carrying CND members. What does on the other hand take bravery is to stand in front of a hostile group of political opponents and say ‘you are wrong and here’s the evidence to prove it’. It also takes bravery to speak up according to conscience and challenge the Left’s naïve and dishonest assumption that ‘the Muslims won’t kill LGBT people really’. It also takes a lot of self belief and self confidence and intellectual vigour to stand up to the LGBT Establishment, which is now dominated by the far Left, and say to them that their policies and beliefs are going to get LGBT people killed, maybe in a similar manner to how those in Orlando died/
My message to those who organised the Stockton event is this: Well done, these are first steps on a road that the LGB and T communities need to take on their road to political maturity. This more politically mature attitude recognises that threats must be acknowledged, even if there are those who don’t want you or others to see such threats.
I hope this group grows and grows and also inspires other LGBT people to step away from the Left wing, who are consistently offering us nothing but excuses for Islam and Islamic gay hatred. There need to be more questioning of the received Leftist wisdom when it comes to Islam. Politically open minded LGBT people need to come together to both reclaim their organisations from the Leftist LGBT Establishment and to form new groups and associations. When it comes to Islam the Left are failing to properly represent LGBT people and even worse are helping to create conditions that will put LGBT people’s lives at risk.
Onwards and upwards! Let’s get behind those LGBT people who are seeing the problem for what it is. We must all keep speaking about the threat posed to LGBT people by the ideology of Islam. If we are silent about it or to cave into Leftist pressure for silence on the matter of Islam then we will be signing our own death warrants.
Here’s some pictures taken from the Twitter feed of ‘Tommy English @EnglishTommy1 who was one of the organisers of this event.
I spy the admirable Anne-Marie Waters.
The very admirable Ms Waters IMO. She knows her stuff which is why the Left and the mendacious grievance mongers of Tell Mama dislike her.
