I, along with many others have been amused to find out that the man who stole Eddie Izzard’s pink beret off his head during a pro-EU demonstration in London was a Polish pro-Brexit supporter. We all owe something of a debt of gratitude to David Czerwonko, aged 26 who in a spur of the moment action snatched the pink beret off of Izzard’s head and ran off with it. By doing so Mr Czerwonko managed to create a mainstream and social media storm which diverted a lot of attention away from the whiners, far Leftists and pro-Brussels shills who had turned out to protest against British independence.
Eddie Izzard appears to have over the years changed from being a cross dressing comedian to the secular patron saint of anti-British, unpopular or failed causes. Nearly all of the causes that Izzard has chosen to support or has spearheaded have failed. He supported Gordon Brown for PM, then Ed Miliband, he campaigned for the Alternative Vote, Ken Livingstone against Boris Johnson, for Britain to join the Euro currency and finally for Britain to remain a member of the EU. Izzard seems to have the kiss of death for nearly every political campaign he gets involved in.
Eddie Izzard is the soft face of Brussels imperialism and despite, at least in my opinion, not being that funny any more, still has an awful lot of pull with the liberal Left media such as the BBC. Such entities do take him seriously and don’t try to test his views in a similar way that they would test the views of a Brexiter or someone questioning the ideology of multiculturalism. Therefore it was wonderful to see Izzards bubble of pomposity pricked by an ordinary Pole living in the UK.
David Czerwonko, managed to achieve something that no journalist or reporter or political commentator has been able to do in recent years, and that’s make Eddie Izzard look a bit of a dickhead. The sight of Izzard losing his dignity and wearing high heels whilst chasing Mr Czerwonko down the street was the one image of this pro-EU demonstration that went almost everywhere. It seemed that there was more press coverage of Izzard’s stolen beret than there were of the hundreds of whining Remaniacs who took part in the demonstration.
We in the UK have cause to be grateful for the positive and sometimes downright heroic contributions of many Polish exiles to the life of the UK, now it seems we’ve got another one to add to the list that of David Czerwonko.
I do hope that there is some sort of whip round being put together to pay for Mr Czerwonko’s fine and costs which where imposed by the Magistrates Court? As Mr Czerwonko has done us such a great favour in making Eddie Izzard and his pro-EU cause look stupid, it would be unjust for him to be out of pocket. To Mr Czerwonko, I’d like to say, in Polish ‘Dziękuję Ci‘ or ‘Thank You’ for making Eddie Izzard look as foolish as some of the causes that he supports.
