To give money to Tell Mama and other Fiyaz Mugal-led organisations is money down the drain

I, the editor of the Fahrenheit211 blog, appeared as a guest on the Canadian internet radio station Red Fox Radio last night where the host, Kel along with Tim Burton of Liberty GB and other chatroom participants, discussed the ongoing scandal over the Tell Mama ‘Islamophobia’ monitoring group.

The matter of the scandal of the continued funding of the Tell Mama organisation and other entities either run by or founded by Fiyaz Mughal was discussed in depth. It is absolutely astounding the amount of public money that has been handed to Tell Mama and other groups and projects that Fiyaz Mughal has been involved in. At a bare minimum since 2008, the taxpayer has funded Tell Mama and other Fiyaz Mughal projects, including guff such as a ‘care for Islamic converts’ scheme, to the tune of £980,000. Many will agree with me that such cash could be far better spent elsewhere. The money that has been handed to these groups could have paid for the training of 140 nurses or paid a years salary for 52 British soliders of Private rank or even bought 14,000 standard NHS issue manual wheelchairs.

The amount of money that Fiyaz Mughal’s groups have been given and the influence that groups like Tell Mama have been able to wield with entities such as the Police is as I said in a recent article represents a public finance and probity scandal of monstrous proportions. From what I can see online there are now a great many people, thousands in fact, who are as livid as I am with such waste. They are also extremely concerned with giving groups like Tell Mama undue and possibly malign influence over vital services such as the police and the Crown Prosecution Service.
