The response of the Prime Minister Theresa May to the vehicular attack on people in the vicinity of the terror-linked Finsbury Park mosque is instructive. She condemned the attack and the death caused by it, as of course all sane people should do, but she went far beyond ordinary condemnation when she said that the Finsbury Park attack was an attack on our ‘values’. She also said the attack was also one against the ‘bonds of citizenship that unite us’.
Mrs May also promised extra police resources to protect Muslims and their mosques in the run up to the end of the Islamic festival of Ramadan aka the festival of skipping lunch and murdering people. She also called a COBRA meeting following the attack at Finsbury Park which seems to have been called more to placate Muslims and tell them that the government is doing something than for any practical purpose. COBRA meetings are normally held following major acts of terrorism such as the Manchester or London Bridge attack or natural disasters, they are not normally held merely because one boozed up fraggle allegedly drove a hired van into a bunch of Muslims causing, it must be noted, a relatively low death toll when compared to the death toll caused by the followers of Islam.
Many ordinary Britons who don’t follow Islam, no matter what their skin tone or background, will have noticed the extra tones of concern expressed by Mrs May following the Finsbury Park attack, a tone that was somewhat missing from her statements following recent Islamic atrocities both at home and abroad. There was little of the ‘keep calm and carry on’ bullshit that we have been fed by politicians, including the Prime Minister, following the Manchester and London Bridge attacks. The Muslims of Britain were not condescendingly and patronisingly told, as the rest of us are, that ‘carrying on as normal’ is the way to beat terrorism. On the contrary, the Prime Minister promised extra protection for Muslims and Islamic communal property, along with a crackdown on people making negative, but often true, comments about the Islamic religion of rape and murder.
The difference in the Prime Minister’s attitude when non-Muslims are murdered by Muslims and when the boot is on the other foot is very noticeable. Theresa May’s statements could cause many non-Muslim Britons to ask: ‘So where is our protection from Muslim criminals or Muslim sex beasts or Muslim mass murderers?’ ‘Where is the protection for the majority population of secular types and Christians from Islamic aggression?’ ‘Where is the protection from Islamic hatred and violence for peaceable religious minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Jews and Buddhists?’ ‘Where is the protection for sexual minorities such as LGB and T people, who face increasing danger from the followers of Islam?’ Where also, is the public condemnation of the ongoing problem of the Islamic Rape Gangs that appear to be operating in almost any sizeable British town or city that has male Muslim residents?
Unfortunately Theresa May’s attitudes to all those who are coming under increasing threat from the followers of Islam can be summed up in a paraphrase of a statement erroneously attributed to the executed French Queen Marie Antionette. Marie Antionette allegedly said about the peasants who were protesting because they had no bread, ‘let them eat cake’, but Theresa May has given the non-Muslims of Britain a similar arrogant and dismissive statement but instead of ‘cake’ Mrs May has told the population: ‘let them eat Islam’.
Mrs May has basically told the British population that it’s the Muslims who deserve better police resources than anyone else, it’s Muslims who must not be insulted, even by those telling the truth about the dangerous ideology of Islam. Mrs May has in effect stuck two fingers up at the rest of us.
I don’t recall any specific and very public promise to protect, for example, the gay community that is in some cases being ethnically cleansed from areas, such as Tower Hamlets, that have had a gay presence for decades before the reforms to sexual offences law which were brought about following the Wolfenden Report in the late 1960’s. I see no grovelling promise to protect churches or synagogues or Sikh temples that are potential targets of Islamic savagery. I have certainly not seen any rush to promise extra police resources to protect the Jewish schools in Britain that, because of Islamic Jew hatred, have to be built with similar levels of physical security that one would expect to see at a secure government installation.
It was correct for the Prime Minister to condemn the random murder of an equally random Muslim man, any reasonable person would and should do the same, but Theresa May went far too far in my opinion, beyond that readily acceptable moral line, with her promises and her pandering to the followers of Islam. Mrs May’s statements also exposed her government’s attitude that the rest of us just don’t matter and that we should ‘eat Islam’ and like it, even though eating this ideology is just as lethal as drinking the deadly Kool-Aid of Jonestown.
Theresa May could have come out of the Finsbury Park incident with a greater level of support among the wider community, but instead she reached for the tool of Islamopandering. She could have condemned the murder, but also pointed out that it is the piss poor, seditious, criminal and violent behaviour of all too many Muslims that is driving some non-Muslim individuals to cross the line into committing acts of violence. If she had done this, then she would be seen as a realist with the security of the whole nation as her priority. Instead she has shown herself to be in possession of a pro-Islam attitude that will not reduce tensions, it will not reduce the justifiable hatred that many non-Muslims feel towards Islam, but it will only make these things worse. The populace sees its leaders sucking up to the followers of an ideology that wants to kill or oppress Britons and which does not make as a priority the defence of non-Muslim Britons. It is not going to be impressed by yet more useless and counterproductive Islamopandering of the sort trotted out by Britain’s lame duck Prime Minister Theresa May.
If you wanted to stir up more disgust, at both the ideology of Islam and its followers, and the political classes, then you could not do better than follow Theresa May’s appalling example.
