On this day 16 years ago, murderous Islamic terrorists commandeered passenger airliners and used the aircraft as weapons to slaughter thousands of innocent people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. The world was horrified at the mass murder of innocents by Muslim killers and it was plain even to those who were watching the tragedy unfold from afar that September 11th 2001 would be the day the world changed.
On this day we should mourn those who lost their lives on that day, comfort those who lost loved ones and help those who may be still suffering the physical and mental scars caused by this revolting Islamic attack.
We should also resolve to never ever forget exactly which ideology it was that not only murdered so many on September 11th itself, but has carried out over 30,000 other violent attacks since 2001, many of which have also ended up with the mass deaths of innocents. This killer ideology has a name and its name is Islam.
Whilst we remember the dead and the maimed and the scarred, at the same time we must pledge ourselves yet again to counter an ideology that killed innocents then, just as it still kills innocents today. Since 9/11, the world has seen mass slaughter by the followers of Islam become more and more common, so much so that some people have tried to convince us that this is the new normal. We’ve also seen the necessary security steps that need to be taken to counter Islamic terrorists becoming more onerous and intrusive. They impinge on our daily lives and, in the case of concrete ‘truck of peace’ barriers, blight our cityscapes.
9/11 was a declaration of war by savages on our civilisations and the constant searches and barriers that we are subjected to, because of the danger posed by the ideology of Islam and its followers, shows us that this war is not over yet. In the long, terrible and bloody history of Islam, the recent upsurge in Islamic violence that has occurred since 9/11, is but a new flare up in a very old war between the savagery of Islam and non-Muslim civilisations.
It is quite right that we should remember the dead and the hurt of September 11th 2001, but we should also remember today and every day, that it was individuals motivated by Islam that killed them. If we forget that fact, then we could lose the civilisations that have taken generations upon generations to build. But, if we remember that it was Islam that murdered thousands on 9/11, then we may yet force this disgusting and murderous ideology back to the hell holes it came from and rescue those of its forced adherents who wish to move from the darkness of Islam into the light of freedom and civilisation.
