The microblogging platform Twitter was once a place where freedom of speech was respected. It was an environment where the main restrictions were on things that many people would agree are wrong, such as doxing or making credible threats of violence.
However since Twitter gained investment from Arab billionaires and the platform started to listen to the various social justice warriors and Islamic snake oil salesmen, it has ceased to be the free speech environment that it used to be. There are commentators out there who are stating that the involvement of wealthy Arabs and a desire to suck up to the SJW’s is behind the forthcoming Twitter purge of conservative voices that is due to happen in December 2017.
According to various reports including statements by Twitter management themselves, Twitter is going to purge all accounts that they refer to as ‘far right’. Whether these accounts are genuinely and objectively ‘far right’ or whether this is merely the label that Twitter management have decided to pin to accounts that they, the screaming permanently offended SJW’s and the Arabs don’t like remains to be seen. But, so far Twitter have not only removed the neo Nazi jackboot lickers but have also removed ex Muslims, critics of Islam, mainstream conservatives, members of non violent patriot groups and individuals who by no stretch of the imagination would fit the description ‘far right’.
If the assault on freedom of speech that Twitter are engaged in was bad enough, their new policy is far, far worse. Twitter are going to be monitoring not just their users output on their own platform but will be examining the other sites that Twitter users visit and probably search terms as well. This is extremely creepy. I can see a multitude of scenarios where this can go badly wrong for anybody using Twitter. I can well imagine a time when innocent people who are Twitter users and who are not part of any ‘far right’ group or entity or are not even a supporter of such politics will be banned from Twitter merely for reading a site that Twitter management and the SJW’s don’t like.
In effect Twitter will become a form of ‘Digital Stasi’ monitoring what you do or say or read online. This would not make me want to recommend to anyone the idea that they should become a Twitter. user. It would be morally wrong of me to tell someone to join a platform that is going to act as a policeman checking everything that their users do. Twitter is already in trouble and losing user growth and these latest policies that go full throttle with the Islamopandering and SJW nonsense is only going to hurt Twitter’s bottom line at the end of the day.
I myself have been removed from Twitter a few months back as part of a previous purge of counter Islam voices (instigated in part by a bunch of notorious and often dishonest Islamic grievance mongers) and this purge removed from Twitter a number of other anti racist counter Islam voices. This purge also removed a number of scholarly writers on the subject of Islam including Mr Peter McLoughlin the author of the definitive text on Islamic sex crime, ‘Easy Meat’. Twitter has basically gone to pot and no more is the place where there is interesting banter between left and right but has become as sterile an environment as a college class where only the left wing professor’s opinion is allowed.
There’s a brilliant video that the You Tube commentator Sargon of Akkad has put up on his ‘The Thinkery’ channel that explains in detail the creepy and worrying new Twitter terms of service which I’ve embedded below and is really worth watching as a précis of the situation.
As I said earlier I could not, in all good conscience recommend anyone to sign up for a Twitter account. Anybody who does, knowing what we now know about Twitter’s new Terms of Service, is exposing themselves to all manner of intrusion into their activities by Twitter management. I don’t know how Twitter are going to monitor everything that their users do on or off the platform but I suspect that Twitter will be recruiting an army of paid and volunteer informers to spy on what Twitter users get up to off of the Twitter platform. If they do this then the similarities between Twitter and the Stasi, the state security police of the old German Democratic Republic look more and more obvious. The Stasi had a network of paid and voluntary informers that helped the East German state keep tabs on the activities, opinions and even the thoughts expressed by their citizens and it seems that Twitter is going down the same authoritarian road.
As a user of the free speech microblogging platform Gab.ai, I have noticed a huge number of new users signing up for the Gab system since Twitter announced their new ‘thought police’ policy. I really don’t blame them for doing so. Most of those who have signed up to Gab are not as far as I can see neo Nazis, but are mainly conservatives (of a broad spectrum), sensible Lefties, those who object to Twitter keeping tabs on them, those who respect free speech and those such as myself who are from the Centre Right.
So, if you don’t want Twitter monitoring your every move or presumably being monitored by one of Twitter’s ‘grasses’ then get on gab. I’ll be doing a longer piece on my experience with Gab in the near future but what I will say is this, gab isn’t a Leftist safe space like Twitter has become, it truly is a free speech environment where both good ideas and bad ideas can be aired and debated.
If you want to contact me on Gab then go to http://www.gab.ai and search for @Fahrenheit211 I expect to see a whole lot more Twitter refugees on that platform over the coming months.
