UPDATE: Police investigating the explosion in Romford have issued a statement confirming that it the incident is a gas explosion and not terror related. Reports are stating that some of the cordons put up in the area are being taken down. As I stated in the body of the text there was a strong possiblity that this could be a gas explosion and this is what it has turned out to be. However, with so many Islamic plots on the go to kill Britons with explosive and having seen Britain targeted with a number of violent Islamic attacks is it any wonder that when we hear the ‘boom’ of an explosion we immediately wonder whether or not that ‘boom’ was also preceded by the words ‘Allah hu Akbar’.
There are reports coming in of a large explosion in Romford in Essex to the East of London. News sources say that police have rushed to the scene and that several streets around the scene of the incident in Farnham Road, Harold Hill are ‘on lockdown’. The Essex Live website is saying: “In a statement, the Met Police said: “Police were called shortly before 13:30hrs on Sunday, 4 March to reports of an explosion at a premises in Farnham Road in Harold Hill. Officers, the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service are currently at the scene. We await an update as to whether anyone is injured.”
Police are not releasing any details as to the cause of this explosion but have said that it doesn’t look like it is ‘terror related’. However, in the current climate and with police desperate to divert attention away from the violent ideology of Islam, it is doubtful that they would tell us the public the truth even if this explosion was ‘terror related’. The London Borough of Havering which covers the Romford and Harold Hill areas is one that has been the site of strange explosions before. In 2015 bomb disposal officers carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect package and in 2017 there was an alleged arson and subsequent explosion at a premises said to have been used as a cannabis factory.
Details are by necessity sketchy at this stage in the game and this explosion could have been the result of a multitude of reasons of which Islamic terror is but one. Because it’s so early I’m not going to definitively call this incident as terror related, but this explanation, or that this explosion is the result of some form of gang related activity, should not be too quickly discounted. It’s quite possible that this is a gas explosion or the result of some other non terrorist reason, these things do happen and do cause significant devastation. But, UK police, being so gung ho as they are towards the idea of protecting Muslims from public censure and opprobrium, could be telling us that there’s no terror aspect to this or other similar cases when in reality there may well be. Would you really trust the British police these days to tell you the truth when it comes to Islam or Islamic terror? I must admit, I wouldn’t. As regards the Romford incident, I will wait and see to see what develops in this case and add more updates to the top of this story if any more come in.
