I’ve been doing some digging into the planning application to build a mosque in Eign Street Hereford that was recently brought to my attention by an article in the Hereford Times which was forwarded to me. What I have discovered should not only give cause for concern for those in the city, but should also galvanise people into opposition.
I’ve managed to get access via the web to the planning application which contains full details of the applicants and the agents for this project. None of them appear to be Muslim and the ultimate user of this facility, which is presumably the Herefordshire Islamic Society is named anywhere on the planning application documents.
This increases my suspicion that these non Muslims have been recruited as ‘front men’ by an Islamic group to purchase the building and put in the application for a change of use into a religious building. By making this application via this route, it seems likely that the Islamic group, knowing of strong local objections to the imposition of a mosque, are attempting to hide what they are up to and what they ultimate plans are. This is pretty disgraceful and sneaky behaviour if that is the truth of the situation.
Another thing that should give concern is that the local newspaper seemed to hang on to this story for quite a while before publishing it. This has the effect that local people have been left with very little time to put in detailed objections. If you are local and you don’t want this mosque-strosity then you need to get your objections in ASAP.

To conclude: I would strongly counsel anybody fighting this disgraceful and unwanted mosque imposition to take all steps to stay within the law and I would NOT encourage or condone anybody contacting any non council party to this application. This battle needs to be won properly.
