Food can sometimes be a source of friction in religious communities. The Christians have disputes over what food to serve at events and woe betide the person who refuses or forgets to bring cheesecake to the synagogue for the Jewish festival of Shavuot, or who serves up shop bought cheesecake and passes it off as their own home made one. I have known both Christians and Jews who have had personal disputes with others in their communities over the issue of food but rarely if ever have these disputes turned violent or as this latest story of Islamic savagery tells us, end up in murder.
According to a Bangladeshi news site, the Dhaka Tribune, a minor dispute about the offering of sweets on a Muslim religious festival appears to have turned out into a mini riot with what the Tribune describes as ‘two groups’ of Muslims on different sides of the ‘sweet argument’ trading blows with fists and weapons. The result of this clash was that one man was stabbed in the fight and died at a nearby hospital.
The Dhaka Tribune said:
A heated argument quickly turned into a brawl on the mosque premises, leaving one man mortally wounded
A man has been killed during a clash between two groups at a mosque in Habiganj district over the distribution of sweets.
The deceased is Helal Mia, 35, a resident of Baghasura Village under Madhabpur upazila.
According to police, Helal got into an argument with another person named Hannan Mia over distribution of “Shirni” (offering of sweets) to mark the holy Shab-e-Meraj at Nur-e-Madina mosque Saturday night.
The heated argument quickly turned into a brawl on the mosque premises. Helal was critically injured after being stabbed with a sharp weapon on his chest.
He was taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, where he died around 2am.
Does anyone else like me think that this sort of brawl and murder with fists and weapons would be unlikely to take place in your local C of E church? Or what about your local Synagogue or Sikh or Hindu Temple, would the people attending these places of worship carry on like this? Probably not, and as for the Buddhists and the Jains well you’ve got about as much chance of either of these groups kicking off violently over such a minor incident as there is of a committed Quaker becoming the boss of an arms manufacturer.
You probably would not have had to guess very hard to work out what religion engages in pitched violent battles over non issues such as this one, yes you guessed right, it’s Islam. It is astounding, truly astounding that a religion that the great, the good and the stupid hail as being a ‘religion of peace’, should have so many of its followers who are the sort of violent thugs who riot over the right to give out sweets.
You would not see Jews killing each other over cheesecake nor Anglicans getting violently angry over the contents of sandwiches at a church fête, these religions are, in their modern form, basically peaceful in outlook and theological desire. But, when it comes to Islam, we can see how a violent ideology, which Islam is, a religion formed by a violent thug, creates cultures made up of violent people who will stab each other to death over such pointless trifles as sweets.
This is Islam, people murdering each other over less than nothing. How on earth can anyone with a sane, sound mind, honestly refer to Islam as a ‘religion of peace’ and still keep a straight face whilst doing so?
Thats some. Real. Mafia stuff right there
