When Muslims or Islamic groups tell us non Muslims that Islam respects religious minorities when Islam is in the majority, we know without a shadow of a doubt that this is statement is a lie. We know this not just from looking at Islamic history or even examining Islamic theology and the hatred it encourages against non Muslims. We know the statement that Islam respects minorities is a lie because of what goes on in places like Pakistan.
Pakistan is a textbook case of Islam turning mixed areas in to oppressive Islamic monocultures. At independence from the United Kingdom in the mid 20th century, approximately 23% of Pakistan’s population was non-Muslim, now that figure stands at just 3%. Islam, or rather orthodox Quranic Islam, has turned Pakistan into a hellish place for non Muslims and for heterodox Muslims.
The latest example of how shoddily Pakistan treats its minorities and how this shoddy treatment has its roots in Islamic culture and theology comes from Sialkot in Eastern Pakistan where a historic Ahmadi mosque was torn down by a raging mob of Sunni Muslims. According to report on the AlAraby website (HT ROP), the mosque, said to have been visited by the founder of Ahmadi Islam, was empty at the time of the attack, which appears to have completely destroyed the building.

A mob in Pakistan tore down a historic mosque belonging to the country’s Ahmadi community on Thursday, in the latest act of violence against the minority Muslim sect.
The attack took place in the eastern Pakistani city of Sialkot, with videos showing Sunni extremists tearing down the place of worship. No worshippers are believed to have been in the mosque at the time of the attack.
The mosque had been an important place of worship for Pakistan’s persecuted Ahmadi sect for the past 135 years.
It was said to be visited by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who founded the faith and is considered to be a prophet by its followers.
Ahmadis were declared “non-Muslims” by Pakistan in 1974, depriving them of many basic rights.
If, like me, you have heard a lot from Muslims over the years about how tolerant Islam is or how Islam coexists peacefully with those of other faiths, then you only need to look at Pakistan to see how dishonest such pro-Islam statements truly are. It has taken roughly 70 odd years for Islam to turn Pakistan from a country not only with prospects and significant religious minorities, into a shithole of monstrous proportions where religious minorities often fear for their lives. Pakistan is the result of having Islam at the core of a nation’s culture and politics. The reason that minorities suffer in Pakistan is because of Islam and no other reason. It is Islam that causes Muslims to carry out gun and bomb attacks on Christians in Pakistan and it is Islam that has enraged a mob to tear down a mosque belonging to one of the few genuinely peaceful branches of Islam.
Pakistan is truly one of the world’s most egregious shitholes and it is Islam that has made a big contribution to making Pakistan the way it is.
