Pakistan is, at the best of times, a vile and violent shithole. It is especially so for religious minorities who are in general repressed and during Ramadan the violence and oppression of minorities gets even worse. Ramadan is the one time of the year when Pakistan becomes an even bigger shithole than it normally is.
According to a report by Associated Press, the normal deprivations that the savage ideology of Islam imposes on its votaries during Ramadan, become enhanced in Pakistan. Unlike other slightly more liberal Islamic hell holes, Pakistan has strict legal enforcement of Ramadan rules with food outlets not even allowed to open discreetly. This sort of draconian enforcement of Ramadan fasting rules is bad enough for Muslims but for non Muslims the existence of these rules mean that they run the risk of being arrested for ‘blasphemy’ if they are seen eating or drinking in public by a Muslim who may then become violently offended.
The Associated Press said:
Pakistani restaurants aren’t even undertaking delivery orders during fasting hours so that we don’t breach [the Ehtram-e-Ramzan Ordinance],” one owner of a restaurant on Lahore’s MM Alam Road told Asia Times.
While citizens from the upper classes find ways to circumvent the ordinance, those most affected by the law are the poor and members of religious minorities.
People from non-Muslim communities have revealed that they are extra careful in the month of Ramadan to avoid doing anything that might be deemed offensive in Pakistan, a country where blasphemy remains a ‘crime’ punishable by death.
In 2016 an elderly Hindu man was badly beaten for eating publicly during Ramadan, with his blood-soaked images going viral on social media. “I see it as bullying. It is quite literally: ‘If we can’t eat, neither can you,’” said human rights activist and blogger Shamila Ghyas, to Asia Times. “Is our imaan [faith] really that shaky, that the sight of someone eating makes us lose our minds? Where is the self-control… the one we are supposed to [be] learning about and exercising this month?”
Pakistan, as I have often said in this strand is a shithole and the fact that it is a shithole can be fairly and squarely laid at the door of Islam. Despite protestations that Pakistani apologists may make to the contrary, Pakistan was set up to be a state where Islam would play a big part, and it shows. It shows in the oppression of women and religious minorities, the rampant sex crimes against children and sometimes animals and the complete and utter retardation that Islam has brought about in this benighted country.
In Pakistan the very worst aspects of Islam come to the fore and that includes bullying non Muslims to hide away and cower during Ramadan. Pakistan is a disgraceful country run and governed by a disgraceful ideology. It’s one of those places where I thank the Eternal One that I do not have to live in such a place, not that I’d live that long if I did go there, although I might pop over if I ever fancy experiencing what it might have been like to be a Jew in Nuremberg in 1938.
