If you are a British parent then there are a number of things that you need to be concerned about when it comes to the development of your child. There’s the usual stuff that all parents need to worry about such as feeding, clothing and guiding your child in their first steps of life, but there is also another concern, that of school teachers and school leaders who see their job not as teaching facts, but indoctrinating children with leftist ideas.
This blog has published stories before on various aspects of pro-Left and pro-Islam indoctrination that is going on in British schools, but this story from Kent which has come via the Daily Mail (h/t ROP) is a shocking example of how a headteacher put aside concerns about child safety in order to virtue signal about ‘refugees’.
Diane Rougvie-Fevrier the acting head teacher of St Gregory’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Margate, Kent, invited the Catholic aid group CAFOD (itself an organisation that seems to have shifted sharply to the Left in recent years) to make a pro-refugee presentation at the school. The invitation of pro-refugee speakers into a school to indoctrinate children is bad enough but Diane Rougvie-Fevrier made things a whole lot worse.
The Acting Head teacher decided that in order to reinforce the ‘refugees welcome’ indoctrination that her management was forcing on the children she decided that the children would have to trudge around the school playing field in order to try to put themselves in the position where they empathasised with the ‘refugees’. This is pretty shocking political indoctrination of children but Diane Rougvie-Fevrier decided to do this on the hottest day of the year. With temperatures reaching 91 degrees Fahrenheit or 33.3 degrees C neither the parents nor their children were given any choice whether or not to take part in this disgraceful display of political indoctrination.
Although some liberal/left parents with children at the school backed the indoctrination, many others expressed objections on social media. Parents and grandparents expressed horror that these young children were made to walk around the playing fields in punishing heat.
The Daily Mail said:
A primary school has been blasted for encouraging pupils to walk around a field five times on the hottest day of the year – to show solidarity with refugees.
The Met Office had issued a warning to stay out of the sun as temperatures in the south east reached a sweltering 33.3C on Monday, the day the kids took part in the sweaty trudge.
But acting head teacher at St Gregory’s Catholic school in Margate, Kent, Diane Rougvie-Fevrier, says the walk was optional and water and hats were provided.
One of the pupil’s grandparents raged on social media, labelling the decision ‘disgusting’ in a Facebook post that garnered almost 300 comments before it was deleted.
The fuming gran said: ‘So my granddaughter came home from school today saying they had to walk around the field five times so they would know how a refugee would feel like.
‘They had a guy from CAFOD come to speak to them.
‘The whole school had to do it the younger ones done the playground.
‘I think this is disgusting on the hottest day of the year.’
Another concerned parent told MailOnline: ‘They had to walk around the school grounds 5 times. They did have water and hats.
‘Children were not asked if they wanted to participate or not, they were told that that is what they were doing. A few staff members disagreed with it going ahead because of the heat but apparently the powers above insisted on it..
Having read this story from the Mail I find myself utterly disgusted by the monomaniacal attitude of the acting head teacher at St Gregory’s. She has not only used her position to indoctrinate children into accepting the leftist view of these ‘refugees’ even though many of these ‘refugees’ pose a threat to the safety of Christians, but she has also endangered the safety of her pupils by making them take part in this disgusting display on one of the hottest days we’ve seen this summer.
This is a headteacher who is plainly unfit for the position that she holds and I would urge parents with children at the school to continue to protest her actions and her policies. Leftist indoctrination of schoolchildren is bad enough at the best of times but Diane Rougvie-Fevrier has put children’s safety at risk by her actions. This person, who has since scrubbed her Linked-In profile, appears to have a bit of a bee in her bonnet about the issue of ‘refugees’ and has according to a Twitter account in her name, been a part of ‘anti deportation’ protests in the past.
It’s pretty obvious to me that Diane Rougvie-Fevrier is a person who cannot do the sensible and correct things that a teacher should do and leave her politics at home. She should no longer be considered as an educator and instead be seen as what she is which is someone who has no qualms about indoctrinating children with leftism and with sympathy for the increasingly dangerous policy of ‘refugees welcome’. If there is one lesson that parents with children at St Gregory’s and in other schools with similar leftist lunatics as teachers should learn it is that they should be constantly vigilant about what is going on in their children’s schools. I’m utter disgusted at what has gone on at St Gregory’s and it is time that this sort of behaviour in our schools ceased.
