Police harassing those who embarrass them

Many British readers will be familiar with the excellent website Crimebodge and its proprietor Rob. This site and Rob himself has done a sterling job of highlighting police misbehaviour in the United Kingdom along with advising people what to do if they find themselves wrongfully arrested and doing his bit to expose police malpractice in connection to scandals such as the Rotherham Islamic Rape Gang one.

Because of his hard hitting work bringing to the public eye those police officers who seem to be more interested in protecting their own arses rather than protecting the rest of us, it was almost inevitable that the police would start to harass Rob.

The You Tube link below contains Rob’s video of a recent vist by an officious plod, one less than gifted in his knowledge of the law it seems, who tried to persuade and cajole Rob into letting himself be arrested.

Here’s the video

As a Briton I feel ashamed when I look at videos like this at what our police have become. There were always some bad apples in the various forces of course, but we seem to be cursed these days with police officers who see us, the public, as the enemy. I look at the this video and see a police officer, an expensively trained and relatively well rewarded police officer and I weep at the waste of resources in sending this copper to Rob’s place. Although the core of the incident is an allegation o ‘breach of the peace’, I can’t help but wonder if this level of resources that seem to be being used against Rob, is more than a little to do with his work exposing police arrogance, malpractise and incompetence.

At a time when there are a number of challenges that the police face such as terror, Islamic radicalisation, a rise in property crime and crimes against the person along with general antisocial behaviour, it strikes me as misplaced priority to behave in this manner.

Good man, Rob – more power to your elbow !

(The actual offence here is “wasting police time” and and it’s the smug prat in the patrol car who’s guilty of it.)

“…more than a little to do with his work exposing police arrogance, malpractise and incompetence.”

Very much more than a little!

Certainly looks like it doesn’t it? Funny how the police can find resources for having a go at people like Rob or hunting down people who say unpleasant but true things about Islam online yet can’t manage to turn out for burglaries, car crime or to deal with the problem of pikey Caravan Utilising Nomadic Travelling Scum. It’s cases like t his that start to turn even the most ardent of police fans against the police. This is bad for the police, as one day the police may really need the help of the public but by acting in this manner they will find that this help may well be removed from them.
