Many people from around the world have encountered a ‘Chick Tract’ of one sort of another. These are hyper Protestant Christian religious tracts that are published by Chick Tracts an organisation which was founded by a fundamentalist Christian called Jack T Chick who died in 2016. Being fundamentalist Christian material these tracts they promote a fundamentalist view of Christianity as is obvious from anyone who is familiar with them or who picks them up. Chick Tracts take aim at Catholics, Jews, Muslims, neo-Pagans, atheists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, gays and just about everyone who isn’t a fundamentalist Protestant Christian. They’ve become so widely known and are often so extreme in their view that they have been widely parodied and mocked.
Most people who are not in the market for any fire and brimstone Christianity when they encounter these tracts just laugh at them, throw them away or as one person I knew did, use the paper from their covers as roaches for joints. Many of the Chick Tracts are disturbing, as well as laughable to non Christians, but they do no real harm. Putting up with Chick Tracts is a very small price to pay for living in a society where there is religious freedom. However, one Muslim is showing himself to be extremely thin skinned about a Chick Tract that was sent to him and other Muslims in the Lancashire town of Preston.
This Muslim is whining louder than a World War II air raid siren over the fact that he has received a hand delivered Chick Tract that criticised Islam and went moaning to the Lancashire Post newspaper all about it. He’s going full on ‘hate crime’ mode over this whereas the proper reaction to a Chick Tract, the reaction of normal people, is to go ‘meh’ when they encounter one. Yes, the personalisation could be deemed disturbing, but on the other hand there are many Christian Evangelists who personalise their message to suit the world view and personality of the recipient. This particular Muslim is showing just how incredibly easily offended he is by not putting the tract immediately in the bin and running to the press. Here’s part of the Lancashire Post story of what is essentially a non-story. As is usual policy for this blog the original text from the newspaper is in italics whereas this blog’s comments are in plain text.
The Lancashire Post said
Booklets ridiculing Islam were hand delivered through letter boxes at six addresses in Preston.
The leaflets included cartoon making vile slurs against Muslims and victims today told the Post they believe they were deliberately targeted because of their religion.
Only six letter boxes. This sounds like the work of an excessively lazy Christian evangelist to me. Most of the Christian Evangelists I’ve ever come across who poke stuff through letterboxes can normally achieve a much higher strike rate than six. I had a look at the tract in question (this looks, going by the cover, like the ‘Allah has no son’ one) and yes it is anti-Islamic as one would expect a fundamentalist Christian tract to be when it comes to Islam. As for slurs I have to ask: Are these ‘vile slurs’ any worse than the words that can be found in the Koran about non-Muslims? I doubt it. In any event the level of criticism aimed at Islam in Chick Tracts is no different from the from the criticism that Chick Tracts aim at other religions and lifestyles. Chick Tracts and items like them are I’m afraid are just part and parcel of living in a society that has freedom of religion, unlike places like Pakistan for instance where there is none.
The Lancashire Post continued:
Pav Akhtar, 40, a resident in Blackpool Road who was among those who received the booklet, is incensed at the hate mail.
He said: “We had a hand delivered note addressed to us directly.
“What was most concerning for us is that each note was a handwritten letter sent to six specific households. How they know which households to target I couldn’t tell you.
Have you thought that someone may have looked at the voters registration list at the local library and picked up random people with Muslim sounding names. It’s not rocket science.
“It was sent only to Asian people in the neighbourhood. It was targeted especially to Asian Muslim families. None of the white neighbours received it and our Sikh neighbours also didn’t get them.
Maybe because there was no point in sending leaflets criticising Islam to Sikhs or Christians or Hindus who happen to be ‘Asian’ in appearance?
“We were purposefully targeted.”
As nearly all effective evangelist activity is.
Other cartoons featured in the booklet show a man wearing a headscarf acting in a threatening manner.
Sounds normal for Islam that does. There’s loads of news footage out there of head-scarfed men waving Koran’s and calling for the death of …..(insert non Muslim or heterodox Muslim group here)
A caption says: “Islam is the second largest and fastest growing religion in America… and you should fear it.”
Some would say that this is highly sensible advice. As I’ve said before on here, one of the big lessons that we should take as humans from the Shoah is that when someone or some ideology says, as Islam does, that you should be killed then it’s a damn good idea to prepare to defend yourself against said threat.
“The children feel nervous and unsure,” he said. “They’re asking why do they hate us? Why don’t they like us?
“If the idea had been to intimidate us then it achieved that.”
Do I hear a compo claim or a demand for the police to pander to his Islamic sensibilities here? I reckon I do. As regards to his kids asking ‘why do they hate us’ then maybe they should take a look into the Koran and see what this document says about Jews, Christians and others to find out why people are maybe more than a little nervous about Islam.
Pav added: “I have tried to do a little bit of homework on the group behind it. It appears to be from quite a right wing Christian organisation – that’s what we think.
You don’t have to do any ‘homework’ on this you just have to google the name of the publisher to find out where it came from. Yes Chick publications is a fundamentalist entity but so what.
“A lot of money has been spent on this. It’s not like with Jehovah’s Witnesses. With them we have rational conversations and that is all well and good.
Actually Mr Akhtar, these things cost pennies and have been around for decades. Also Chick publications has a go at Jehovah’s Witnesses as well. Glad to hear that you’ve been having rational conversations with the JW’s, you’ve been doing better than some have managed there.
“This was not like that at all, there was no opportunity for conversation.
It’s an evangelism leaflet, nothing more, it’s not supposed to be a conversation opener. This sort of tract is designed to get people thinking it’s not a two way discussion.
“We’re really angry – it’s been reported to the police. We’re not going to put up with that kind of attitude. We shouldn’t have to put up with that kind of nonsense being put through our letter boxes.
If that’s his attitude can the rest of us also be spared the imposition of the nonsense of Islam as well?
“They’re trying create that hostile environment.”
I think that Islam and its followers have beaten you to it on the ‘creating a hostile environment’ front.
The article then goes on to state how Lancashire Police have become involved and have turned the Islamopandering over this issue up to eleven. Mr Akhtar then went onto promote the bullshit idea that Brexit has caused a massive increase in ‘hate crime’, it hasn’t but it has produced a rise in allegations or claims of ‘hate crime’ with few of them going through the court system and being proven. There was one case where snowflake left wingers were making ‘hate crime’ complaints over Nigel Farage’s speeches which the police had to record, but which were not really crimes at all.
Mr Akhtar also complained that he had also been abused by another driver during an overtaking incident and said:
Among the abuse he has been forced to tolerate was a driver who overtook him shouting racial slurs at him and another man who threatened to punch him.
“That one I didn’t even report,” said Pav, referring to the latter incident.
Did this incident even happen I wonder? We would not know as he didn’t bother to report it.
“Even reporting is exhausting, you waste half an hour of your life because nothing happens.
Half an hour – you don’t know your born geezer. People have to wait far longer than half an hour to make reports about real crimes such as burglary, car theft, rape etc etc.
“I’m not blaming the police but there aren’t enough officers.
There’s probably plenty of officers but they are all monitoring Twitter for people saying unkind and sometimes true things about Islam or transgenderism.
He then went on to whinge about how not enough is being done to stop ‘hate crime’ and how when he moaned about the tract on social media people gave him abuse and called him a ‘terrorist’. Now I admit that is not a nice thing to have to deal with but maybe if Islam wasn’t the religion of death that it is, he wouldn’t have been called ‘a terrorist’? Seems to me that Mr Akhtar mistakenly thought that he would find an ocean of sympathy for his whinge about this but was wrong. As for the terrorist slur, if you call a Jew or a Christian a member of a terror religion and its obvious bullshit and is easy to laugh off or refute, but with Islam it’s a different matter, this religion does indeed produce an awful lot of people who will readily kill for their religion.
This is a classic example of the ‘Muslim victim whinge’ story. It takes its place alongside the fake hijab pulling incidents that have occurred in many Western nations and other incidents designed to elicit undeserved sympathy for Islam. Unfortunately for the likes of Mr Akhbar Islam is indeed a faith whose adherents are all too often encouraged to have no sympathy for non Muslims whatsoever. Islam, and too many Muslims seem to ashamed of nothing about their ‘religion’ and offended by just about everything that challenges it.
I really think a whack round the face with a wet haddock is an appropriare response to this idiocy. Although I do recognise that it’s dangerous insidious idiocy considering the PC-ridden snowflakes who seem to dominate this once-fair country.
