This an intriguing film and one I’d not come across until recently. Master Spy made in 1964 doesn’t have any huge acting talent names that may be recognised today but it makes up for that by being a really good spy yarn set in the tight environment of a government physical research centre.
The plot-line centres on a Yugoslav physicist, who whilst being apparently coerced onto an aircraft at one of the London airports, breaks away and pleads for asylum to a member of airline staff. This Eastern Bloc scientist has information about a particular area of neutron physics that both his own government want and so do the British.
In an effort to make use of the refugee physicists knowledge he is sent by MI5 to a remote research station to continue his work but this time for the British instead of the Communist bloc. However the research station is tainted by a number of problems that include the disappearance of secret documents and the suspicious death by drowning of one of the scientists. However documents are still going missing even after the death of the man suspected of leaking.
This is a gripping plot about which I will not give too much away here. However it is a cracking and entertaining watch. This is another gem of an old movie and I hope that you enjoy it too.
