It could well be the case that a group of ‘North African’s’, one of them armed with a handgun, apprehended by French police at Austerlitz station, is evidence of yet another murderous Islamic terror plot. According to press reports, police acting on reports of an armed man at the station, sent in specialist officers to the site and apprehended the man in question and two others who are believed to be his accomplices. When police arrived the other men who were with the initial suspect ran off and hid in the toilet.
According to Breitbart in an article published yesterday, all the suspects are now in custody and are being quizzed by police to ascertain if there are any links between them. Unsurprisingly one of the suspects is said to be ‘known to the police’.
It is quite possible of course that this incident may have been gang related, as France has a big problem with migrant youth crime gangs. But, France also has a great many Islamic extremists and has been hit by numerous terror attacks and other potential attacks that have been foiled by the security forces. These arrests could the result of normal crime or it could be terrorism. Therefore for the moment the potential that this could be a thwarted terror attack cannot be completely discounted at this stage.
If this incident is terror related then it will be the sixth such terror attack that the French security forces have stopped in recent years, at least one of which was said to be aimed at France’s public transport system. Whilst I give praise to the French police in apprehending these men, especially if they are found to be terrorists, these arrests are merely attacking the symptom of a problem rather than the problem itself.
The main problem, the prime driver of these terrorists is the ideology of Islam and the exhortations to violence contained within this belief system. Although I agree that there are many Muslims who can see through and work around these contemporaneous incitements to violence in Islamic scripture, there are too many other Muslims who do not or cannot do this. It should worry everyone in Europe that there are hundreds upon hundreds, probably thousands, of radicalised Muslims lurking in the Islamic ghettos that are now a part of many Western European cities. The governments of Western European nations need to realise that the problem lies with the ideology of Islam itself. Our leaders need to accept, as they once did with regards to other ideologies such as Fascism and Communism, that bad ideologies have a propensity to create bad people. Islam will continue to churn out murderers and potential murderers with impunity unless this awful ideology, which someone once said is the ‘mother-lode of bad ideas’, is openly challenged by those with governmental authority.
So far the French government has been very successful recently in thwarting the plans of the terrorists. Those who have planned such attacks have been apprehended before they could carry out their intentions. The problem is I see it is that this policy is unsustainable in the long term. The security forces have to be successful every time when it comes to stopping Islamic terror, the Jihadis on the other hand only have to be successful once in order to spread terror and fear. The problem of Islamic terror can never be properly dealt with until we deal properly and strongly with the ideology that creates and drives those who believe that their deity gives them the right to kill others.
