Another Briton dies in a possible Islamic attack

Faye Mooney the aid worker who was murdered in Northern Nigeria.

Whilst the attention of the world was, quite rightly in my view, concentrated on the Islamic massacre of over 350 Christians and others in Sri Lanka, there was a story of another Briton who is likely to have been murdered by Islamic savages in Nigeria, that appeared to get somewhat buried. The circumstances surrounding the death of aid worker Faye Mooney aged 29, and a Nigerian colleague most certainly suggest that these deaths were likely to be the result of one or other Islamic gang.

Ms Mooney, who worked for the NGO Mercy Corps, was attending a party with Nigerian colleagues when gunmen entered the resort where she and others were and started shooting indiscriminately. Ms Mooney was killed along with a Nigerian man and three other Nigerian citizens were kidnapped. Both the police in Nigeria and the local British High Commission are staying tight lipped about the motivations behind the attack but the area where the attack took place in Northern Nigeria is infested with Boko Haram and ISIS operatives.

Sky News on April 21st said:

Kidnappers in Nigeria have shot dead a British woman and a Nigerian man, and abducted three others, officials have said.

Police and the British High Commission have named the woman as Faye Mooney, 29, and said they were aware of an incident which took place at a holiday resort on Friday but would not speculate on a motive.

If this isn’t the result of a murderous acquisitive crime, which is a possibility, the choice of target, a holiday resort and the location suggests strongly that the motivation for this crime begins with an ‘I’ and ends with an ‘M’.

Sky News added:

The Briton was working in Nigeria as a communications specialist for aid group Mercy Corps and was one of 12 tourists travelling to the northern city of Kaduna from Lagos, police said.

Police said Ms Mooney, who worked in the west African nation for nearly two years, had been attending a party before the incident.

Ms Mooney, who had graduated from University College London and the somewhat left leaning London School of Economics, was no naive new arrival. She had spent two years in Nigeria and must have picked up information about the Islamic conflict going on in the North of the Country? Despite knowing this she still travelled to this region when her previous experience in war zones such as Kosovo should have made her more wary of travelling. It may be that she didn’t know about the dangers of Northern Nigeria or even trusted completely the local knowledge of her Nigerian colleagues. We will never know why she made this decision but it was a decision that has led to her death, most likely at the hands of the large number of savage and murderous Muslims that exist there.

I get the impression, mostly from the statement on Ms Mooney’s death put out by Mercy Corps that she was some sort of left winger. The phrases ‘deeply committed to fostering cross-cultural collaboration’ and ‘leading efforts to counter hate speech and violence’ point to Ms Mooney being a leftist. However, even though her political foolishness and possible self destructive altruism may have contributed in some way to her being in a dangerous environment, is an interesting part of the story it’s not what most matters here. What is important here is that this is another Briton who has most likely been robbed of her life by those inspired by the savagery of Islam.

The attention of the world was elsewhere when this British woman met her death in such a brutal and horrific way, far from home and in a hostile environment. We should be angry at all the thousands of deaths that the woefully misnamed ‘religion of peace’ has brought to the world and we should be especially angry when our own nation are murdered by this savagery. When will people learn that, no matter how hard you try or how much you pray for peace, it is impossible to make peace with those whose core ideology consists of little more than violence, hatred and oppression.
