What is it about Islam? What is it about this particular ideology that makes those who convert to it suddenly want to carry out acts of violence? Could it be that unlike many of the other religions that people could choose in the modern supermarket of faith, Islam engenders violence in its adherents and attracts those individuals who are, by their natural inclination, violent thugs?
It certainly seems to be true that Islam engenders violence and attracts the violent when we look at the large numbers of converts to this ideology who choose the path of violence and terror. I’ve been observing the situation with Islamic converts to a while and whilst some are indeed peaceful but deluded individuals, too many others become enamoured by the violence of Islam.
The latest incident to come to my attention is from Belgium where according to the Times of Israel (h/t ROP) a convert to Islam has been apprehended for plotting to attack the United States Embassy in Brussels. The TOI said that the convert terror suspect, who was a man aged about 40 but is currently unnamed, was arrested after the man showed ‘converging signs’ that he was going to carry out a terror attack.
The Times of Israel said:
The police on Saturday arrested the man, following “converging signs raising fears of an attack against the US embassy,” the prosecutor’s office said. The suspect identified only as M.G. appeared Monday morning before an investigating judge who ordered him held, it added.
“The suspect has been detained for an alleged attempted attack within a terrorist context and preparation of a terrorist offense,” it said in a statement.
The suspect denies any involvement in the alleged plot.
A source close to the investigation told AFP the suspect is a Belgian man of around 40 years and a convert to Islam, who had “raised suspicion because of his behavior.”
He had been seen “scouting” the embassy area before he was arrested, the source added, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Another day and yet another convert to Islam busted for allegedly wanting to kill non-Muslims in order to appease his bloodthirsty deity Allah. The innocent people who work in the US Embassy and in the surrounding areas have had a lucky escape from the jihadist terrorism that is currently plaguing Western Europe in particular. On this occasion the security systems worked and a suspicious man who was said to be behaving in a pretty suspicious manner is now in custody.
There must be many more potentially dangerous converts to Islam out there and the inept convert terrorists like this man are probably relatively easy for the security forces to target and round up. However that should not blind us to the possibility that those disturbed and violent converts to Islam who possess a bit of common sense and savvy and are not picked up early, are just biding their time before they strike. Those who choose Islam too often go down a very bad path that ends in terrorism and the death of innocent people. It is this fact that leads me to believe that converts to Islam, unlike converts to other faiths, need to be treated by both government and society as the potential threats to security and safety that they often prove themselves to be.
