A man went on a knife rampage inside a Paris police headquarters today killing at least one police officer and injuring five others according to the Daily Mail. Other sources however, French language ones such as Actu17, state that two people were killed in the attack.

It remains to be seen whether this attack is the result of genuine mental illness on the part of the assailant or whether this was yet another Islamic attack on the French police. There is of course the possibility that this could be linked to the ongoing Gilet Jaune protests towards which the French police have behaved quite brutally, but my money would be on this having some form of Islamic motive.

I come to this conclusion or rather this suspicion because of the nature of the attack on random police officers inside a police building and the fact that Actu17 is reporting that a ceramic knife was used in the attack. The targetting of the attack, at French state security assets, does suggest an Islamic political motive and the use of a ceramic knife, something that may not be picked up by metal detectors, seems to indicate some degree of planning involved in this attack. If someone was to suddenly go apeshit in an office they’d be using whatever makeshift weapons they could find around the office and not choose to bring in a weapon that would be less likely to be detected by security.

I’d say that there is at least a 50% likelihood that Paris has experienced yet another outbreak of sudden jihad syndrome going by what has been reported so far. If that is the case then it may be showing that as higher profile targets, such as the Eiffel Tower are locked down with increased security measures, Islamic terrorists may be going after much softer targets using those Muslims who have been recruited to work within entities such as the French police as fifth columnists.

I fear that the Islamic violence problem in France will get worse not better and that the French may be seeing many more attacks like this unless they get to grips with their various Islam related problems.
