The Left have a tendency to whine extremely loudly about the ‘plight’ of the ‘Palestinians’ whenever Israel defends itself against ‘Palestininan’ violence. After almost every defensive action that Israel takes, the airwaves and the pages of the left leaning press are full of lefty commentators screaming about ‘genocide’ and ‘oppression’ of Arabs at the hands of Israelis. The left say this even though there is no genocide of ‘Palestinians’ and any percieved oppression of the ‘Palestinians’ could have been ended decades ago by the Arabs choosing peace instead of violent Jew hatred.
But, when any nation other than Israel takes defensive action against these ‘Palestinians’ then the left is as quiet as the grave. They say virtually nothing.
The Gab user Mohamscamel ( @mohamscamel )has put up a link to a very interesting story from Lebanon and I’m very grateful that he has doen so as it shows up starkly the double standards practised by the Left when it comes to the issue of the conflicts in the Middle East. It appears that the Lebanese government and others have decided that what needs to be done to curb violence from ‘Palestinians’ is to wall them off behind a security barrier.
The story is being carried by an Arab news outlet called The New Arab and does not seem to be garnering the same shrieking outrage that would be heard from the Left had it been Israel building such a wall.
The New Arab said:
The first blocks of an isolation wall were erected around the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon this week, as a plan to build ‘security’ cordons and watchtowers around Ain al-Hilweh came into effect.
The security wall forms part of an agreement between Palestinian factions and the authorities in Lebanon in attempt to contain recent confrontations between Palestinians inside the camp and the Lebanese army, Lebanese and Palestinian officials claim.
The isolation wall is set to be completed within the next 15 months, according to a report by Lebanon-based al-Modon news site.
As usual if it wasn’t for the double standards the Left would not have any standards at all.
Critics of Israel never seem to mention that Gaza has a border with neighbouring Arab Egypt, which in theory should provide all the supplies, employment and infrastructure Gaza needs. But I believe the Egyptian border as tight and controlled than the Israeli one, and so it doesn’t fit their narrative that it is the Israelis alone that keep the Palestinians permanently trapped within a so-called refugee camp.
