Clown world Britain where science denial rules

Jordan Peterson was correct when he spoke out about Canada’s gender recognition laws. He said that these laws would lead inexorably to compelled speech, where people would have to ignore the evidence of their own eyes, to disregard their own knowledge and to spout lies.

In Britain this prediction has come true. Those who challenge the ideology of gender flexibility are punished by a culture where truth is put aside in favour of stuff that is provably untrue. Most reasonable people when presented with the idea that it is possible to change ones biological sex would say that this is nonsense. This is correct. We cannot change our chromosomes or our DNA which encode what we are, who we are and what biological sex we are. Science and medicine has advanced to the stage where it can create a pretty good facsimile of the opposite sex but it is still impossible to change the chemical essence of what we are. To say otherwise is obviously false.

Britain has become a clown world where science denial and especially the denial of biological science rules. This is a problem that has become increasingly obivous following the case of Maya Forstater.

Ms Forstater was sacked from her job as a taxation expert at a think tank after she questioned on social media the gender ideology and criticised plans by the government to allow people to self identify as the gender of their choice without any requirements to take part in gender reassignment treatments. Ms Forstater said, quite correctly, it is impossible to change ones biological sex as we cannot change our DNA or our Chromosomes. She was also correct to say that allowing transwomen to compete against biological women is both unsafe and unfair. This issue of fairness is a pretty uncontroversial comment bearing in mind how biological women are being pushed down the women’s sport league tables by transwomen. As for being unsafe, we can see that from the case of the transwoman Fallon Fox the Mixed Martial Arts fighter who has caused serious injuries to some of their biological female opponents in the ring.

Transwomen are not women and no amount of wishful thinking or bullying by those who think otherwise will change that fact. Transwomen still have XY chromosomes as this cannot be changed.

If the case of Ms Forstater had been just one of sacking because she didn’t fit with the ethos of the organisation then that is one thing as organisations have the right to decide who they want to work for them. However, there are other issues here besides this. When Ms Forstater went to an employment tribunal she lost her case against dismissal in a judgement that denied scientific fact.

The judge in the case said that Ms Forstater’s comments were ‘incompatible with human dignity and fundamental rights of others’. This indicates that those who are pushing this dangerous and false ideology that a person can change their sex are very well embedded in the judicial establishment and that is something that needs to change.

This case has enormous future implications. It means that any company or organisation anywhere in Britain can sack someone for stating such biological facts as it is impossible to change sex to anything more than a superficial degree or that there are only two genders which are determined biologically. This judgment is both frightening and Orwellean and is likely to be used by those with an agenda to silence critics and to force people, on pain of losing their jobs, to speak words that they know are lies.

I support the right of adults of sound mind who have passed through a gender reassignment process to be able to get gender recognition certificates even though I’ve come to believe that transition for too many people doesn’t sort out the underlying problems that they may have. This is because these adults have a right to do what they want with their bodies. I’ve met and been friends with enough trans people over the years to know that this process is not undertaken lightly but after many years of deliberation and other treatments. It should not be the case that a man can suddenly one day decide that they are a woman and without any treatment or supervision, gain access to women’s spaces such as toilets and changing rooms. Self identification is a disaster waiting to happen and it is a disaster that is primarily going to affect biological women. They will continue to be erased from society and public life by being described, as is alleged to be happening in Britain’s National Health Service as ‘birthing individuals’ or ‘cervix posessors’ instead of what they are which is women.

This is a truly appalling case. It’s going to affect a wide range of issues not just employment law but also issues surrounding freedom of speech, healthcare and public policy. It has set a precedent that people can be told to shut up or else by the science deniers of the transgender movement. We truly live in frightening times in Britain where people are told to say what is completely untrue in order to keep their jobs or even keep their freedom.

I completely agree with Posie Parker’s suggestion that this case must spur some action. I concur that the best action to take would be for people, as Mrs Parker suggests, to contact their Member of Parliament. They should contact their MP not just about the case of Ms Forstater, but also about the intrusion into so many areas of a gender ideology that represents the views of a tiny minority of an equally small minority of Britons.

I stand with Maya Forstater. Do You?

  1. How did a vanishingly small percentage of the population gain such an ascendancy over the judiciary? The absurdity of these pretenses is truly staggering. If people want to cross-dress and pretend they are the other sex, let them – it doesn’t bother of affect me. But to insist that the majority respect their mental problems is both unnecessary and insulting to those among us who can still think for ourselves.
