I’ve been hearing reports from across the country about how some Muslims are not self isolating as they should be. I’ve passed on some of these reports where they come from sources that I consider trustworthy because their information has been accurate or reliable in the past. Other reports that don’t have for me a good provenance, I’ve left alone.

Also left alone are many of the videos that are circulating purporting to be of either deliberate quarantine breaking in Islamic communities, or social disorder caused by Muslims or disorder where Muslims are claimed to be involved. Some of these videos have been laughable in their naked dishonesty with footage of the 2011 London Riots, being passed off as recent footage. Similarly footage of Muslims making a nuisance of themselves by praying in the street accompanied by claims that this was recorded during the current emergency have also turned out to be of a much earlier vintage than some have claimed. As in any crisis or emergency there are some with agendas that are putting out misleading information in order to promote their particular cause.

However, I have come across a piece of video, not a long piece, under a minute, that appears to show Muslims in Birmingham failing to obey police instructions to ‘go back to your homes’. Everything in this video seems to scream ‘current’ rather than ‘archive’ and it comes via Old Holborn a source that is level headed enough not to promote a load of old bollocks and a person who keeps their ear to the political ground. In this case this video is coming via a relatively trustworthy source of alternative information and the video shows police officers who are obviously Brummies who can be plainly heard telling people to ‘go back to your homes’ and who seemed to me to be saying something about ‘isolation’ as well. Add in the fact that nobody seems to be being arrested here along with police vehicles running their sirens whilst stationary, not something I would say was usual, I’m going to err on the side of treating this video as having a reasonable chance of being current.

If this is any indication of how Britain’s Muslims are treating a lockdown that has been imposed by the government to curb the spread of the Chinese Covid19 virus, then it is no wonder that there are so many infections of Covid19 in those areas of the country where Islam culturally dominates, such as Birmingham, Tower Hamlets, and Newham for example. Birmingham where this video has been claimed to have been filmed by those contributing to the Twitter feed, has as of today (15:30) 428 cases whilst Tower Hamlets and Newham in East London have 160 and 195 respectively. These are sigificantly larger figures than those for say Herefordshire with 25 cases and Suffolk with 74 cases and 30 cases in Dorset which I presume includes the county seat of Dorchester. This video is for me some useful confirmation of the claims that there is a problem with getting some of Britain’s Muslims to obey quarantine regulations. What I’m seeing is that in non-Muslim areas, not just stereotypically ‘white’ areas, but mixed areas as well,  there is general compliance with these temporary rules but this is not seemingly being repeated in Islamic areas.

There appears to be an element of medieval fatalism present in Britain’s Islamic community along with a belief that either Allah will protect them or that they can do nothing about keeping themselves safe from Covid19 as ‘Allah decides who lives and who dies’. This is Darwin Award thinking from a bunch of future Darwin Award winning Muslims. Even the more left wing parts of the mainstream media are recognising that the family and community structures are an aggravating factor when it comes to the spread of Covid19. There is the distinct possibility that a family of infectious Muslim persons that fails to isolate in a similar manner to that which is happening in the majority community, could end up being walking disease bombs that spread the disease first around the Islamic community and then outside of it. The high number of cases from Islamic areas may indicate that Islamic communities are not taking this outbreak seriously and are thereby endangering themselves and their own communities and others by their conduct.

When I look and hear of some of the thoughtless and irresponsible behaviour that is coming out of places like Birmingham and East London and the backward fatalism of some in Britain’s Islamic communities, I am both saddened and despairing. I can’t help but wonder if soon the shade of Charles Darwin may suddenly emerge and laugh his damned head off at the silly Islamic humans who thought that Allah would protect them from Coronavirus.
