It’s Ramadan day ten and the usual and expected slaughter of people by religiously inspired attackers continues to rack up a worryingly high death toll. Yesterday, day nine, saw a total death count of 143. In the space of 24 hours this death toll has risen by over forty to stand at 185.

According to the Religion of Peace website which is monitoring and recording this year’s Islamic death toll at Ramadan, this slaughter by violent Muslims is unmatched by either any other major religion. It is also far greater than any attack by the ‘far right’ bogeyman which many governments, including that of the United Kingdom, tells us is an equal threat as Islamic terrorism is considered to be. So far this Ramadan Islam has murdered 185 people whilst other religions and the ‘far right’ have clocked up precisely zero deaths.

Whilst I concede that there are many individual peaceful Muslims in this world, that does not mean that Islam the ideology is in itself peaceful in nature. It is not. Islam encouraged martyrdom and encourages attacks on members of other belief systems or on those that the attackers consider to be the ‘wrong’ sort of Muslim. We don’t see this sort of death toll from members of other faiths or even from the more ’out there’ political paths that exist. This shows that the ideology of Islam is profoundly different from other religious and philosophical paths and this difference is really not a nice difference, it is as different as chalk and cheese and it’s about time that people started to recognise that Islam is different from other much more civilised religious ideologies.
