I’m afraid that the answer appears to be ‘yes’. With information coming out about how the Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey has written, along with members of Britain’s regional nationalist parties and the lunatic Greens, to Michel Barnier of the European Union, stating that the Brexit negotiating period needs to be extended, it’s difficult to come to any other conclusion.

The Liberal Democrats have gone from being a once relatively respectable centre party to wanting to use the Coronavirus pandemic crisis to hamper Britain’s negotiations over leaving the EU. This is not the action of a sensible party loyal to the idea of democracy or the British people, this is the action of a traitor. Maybe it’s time to rename the Liberal Democrats as the ‘Literal Traitors’?

You expect the lunatic fringes of politics such as the Greens and the far leftist ideologues of the Welsh and Scottish Nationalists to do stuff like this, after all they have form in this area and of talking down Britain. However, this is not what should be expected from a major nationwide party that has the word ‘democratic’ in its name. The Lib Dems seem to have chucked democracy out of the window because the vote to leave the EU in June 2016 didn’t go their way.

The Liberal Democrats have become the EU’s ‘Fifth Column’ in Britain. They are the party that is doing it’s utmost to stop Britain from leaving the EU and they are doing so by whatever underhand of treasonous method that they consider expedient. The Lib Dems and the other signatories of the letter sent to Barnier said to him: “the efforts of national governments and the European Union will not be engaged solely with dealing with the dreadful COVID-19 epidemic”. This, along with the content of a recent Daily Express article, suggests to me that the Liberal Democrats would be very relaxed with the idea of using the Coronavirus problems as an excuse to keep Britain shackled to the EU despite this not being the expressed will of the British people.

Now I know personally some Lib Dem members and activists and they mostly seem to be the sort of people whom one would describe as ‘nice but dim’. But, this description cannot be used to describe the Liberal Democrat party itself. It has become a party that despite its name is neither liberal nor democratic and is a party that now despises both the British people and our decision to leave the EU. The Liberal Democrats may have been decimated at Westminster following the December 2019 General Election and the disastrous election campaign followed by its fomer leader Jo Swinson, but that doesn’t make the Lib Dems less dangerous to the safety, security and independence of Britain. This latest incident should make people realise that there are still Liberal Democrats in positions of influence who are using that influence to work against Britain, its people and British interests. People should realise this and treat these ‘Literal Traitors’ with the utter contempt that they deserve and remember this the next time that the Liberal Democrats come knocking on your door asking you for your vote at election time.
