Pakistan is a terrible place. It is a failed state but one armed with nuclear weapons, a state aligned with one of the West’s enemies, China and it’s a nation that has become akin to a Petri dish to allow us to see what happens when the worst aspects of Islam become the guiding principles for an entire country.
The sort of oppressiveness and cultural retardation that afflicts Pakistan is primarily felt by Pakistan’s religious minorities. The position of Christians, Sikhs, Hindus and heterodox Muslims such as the Ahmediyya, in Pakistan is truly awful. But we should not forget that the mess that is Pakistani society also afflicts orthodox Muslims as well. Muslims in Pakistan who should have been citizens of a state that is developing both culturally and economically, have been woefully short changed. The State, via the religious establishment of Pakistan, has done nothing to get ordinary Muslims to do basically decent things such as treat women and children with some degree of respect. The Pakistani Islamic religious establishment has done little to root out culturally retarded views and attitudes among Pakistani citizens. It appears that this religious establishment must want Pakistani Muslims to remain ignorant and desire this ignorance because ignorant people, people frightened by religion and by superstition, are often easier to control than those who are informed and can think freely.
Pakistan, when it became independent of the United Kingdom, could have become a broadly secular country like its neighbour India and by doing so develop and become a major regional powerhouse. In fact, if you read Freedom At Midnight by Collins and Lapierre, the inside story of the British withdrawal from the Indian subcontinent, you will understand that some wanted a broadly secular future for Pakistan. Unfortunately the father of Pakistan, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, betrayed those who wanted secularism and instead steered Pakistan towards being a nation with an Islamic religious character.
By not tackling and indeed encouraging the sort of cultural and social retardation that Pakistani Islam has brought to Pakistan, problems such as the sort that makes up today’s latest Pakistani horror story, may have been relegated to history. Unfortunately, Islamic religious backwardness has meant that children can not only be married off at ages that would disgust the denizens of more advanced nations, but that some Muslims believe that children can be killed over disputes around marriage.
According to a report in the Pakistan Tribune, a man with two sons wanted to marry them to his brother’s daughters, a match that would be considered as disgustingly incestuous in more civilised nations, when the father of the girls refused the match, the boy’s father went to his brother’s house and shot his nieces dead. The suspect has been arrested and is being investigated for murder.
The Pakistan Tribune said:
A man shot dead his two nieces over a marriage dispute on Saturday.
Tandlianwala city police took both the bodies into their custody, shifted them to a hospital for postmortem and started search for the escaped murderer.
Accused Allah Rakha, a resident of 240 Mor, Jaranwala, reportedly wanted to marry off his sons to his brother Allah Ditta’s daughters Sidra and Rani Bibi.
Allah Ditta did not agree with his brother’s decision. Due to this resentment, Allah Rakha came to his brother’s house and opened fire on his daughters.
As a result, the girls died on the spot.
These terrible and unnecessary murders would maybe not have occurred had all those involved lived in a civilised nation governed by civilised rules. The accused probably saw the refusal of the marriage as some form of insult so he did what so many people brought up in violent Islamic cultures do, he killed the girls.
Whilst all societies can produce violent nutcases or have been violent in the past, Pakistan seems to be heavily afflicted by violence. Maybe its unsurprising that this is the case bearing in mind that although there are many Muslim individuals who are peaceful, Islamic theology and culture is not.
The Pakistan Tribune then goes on to detail how this sort of violent reaction to a familial dispute or to some insult is not uncommon in Pakistan. In the Faisalabad area alone just this year there have been several other killings and woundings caused by familial or property disputes.
Pakistan is a violent shithole of monstrous proportions where religious minorities are oppressed and one where cultural retardation, blood feuds and hatred rules. It didn’t have to be this way but because Pakistan chose Islam to be its national guiding principle, the result has been that Pakistan has been turned into a hell on earth.
