Today is the day that the useless, intrusive demand from a government that seems to be making up coronavirus rules as it goes along with no reference to reality or to science, comes into effect in the United Kingdom.
There is a brilliant comment on the use of worthless face nappies in shops as from today, although some shops are refusing to police this idiotic masking rule, from Longrider.
Longrider said:
I’m a law abiding cove. However, when the law is an ass, then breaking it is the only option left to decent people. It is not the role of the shopkeeper to act as de-facto police – and it certainly isn’t the role of petty, spiteful, brainwashed mask-shamers.
This law is going to be impossible to police. Given that, people will ignore it as they should. Mass refusal to comply will remind the government that it governs with our consent and if it doesn’t have our consent, civil disobedience is a valid response. After all, if it’s okay for the BLM and XR Marxists, it’s okay for the silent majority.
Spot on there Longrider. The time for masks was at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, especially as earlier this year we knew less about covid19 and thought it would be much more lethal than it has turned out to be. Those who refuse to wear face nappies are not rebelling against science or logic, they are rebelling against stupidity and a government that has sadly turned out to be much less competent than they should have been. The government is panicking, they’ve crashed the economy for what seems like very little gain and instituted policies that are horrifically more statist and intrusive than what we thought we were voting for in December 2019. The facemask rule seems to me to be little more than attempt by government to face save now it is becoming known that coronavirus whilst bad for some, has not been the Black Death.
I agree with Longrider, this facemask rule is going to be impossible to police and indeed some police forces are not going to prioritise calls from indignant ‘Karens’ moaning about unmasked Britons. Coronavirus seems to be dying out and going away, it is behaving as nearly all novel viruses have behaved since records began which is to start small, then peak, then rapidly decline as all the potential victims of the virus die and the rest of us gain some degree of resistance to the disease.
If going through life wearing face-masks works so well against air-borne infections – why is the death rate so high in Iran ? Just sayin’…….
Yes of course. Facecoverings have been religiously mandated there for a while and also other nations where burkahs and niquabs are de rigeur also seem to be having large outbreaks as well. This mask rule really does look like the government panicking and wanting to be seen to be doing something even if it’s either late or particularly stupid. There might have been a case to be made for masks in the early stages of the outbreak but not now, not as covid seems to be going away. I’m not normally one to pick up the tin foil hat as I do my best to be evidence based in how I make up my mind about something but Sargon may be onto something when he says that the mask rule is not about controlling a virus, something that is difficult if not impossible to completely control, but is more about controlling people. Of course its about controlling people.
