Like any other peace loving individual I believe that it’s good to see some form of peace between Israelis and Arabs. Jaw jaw is better than war war as I believe that Churchill once said. The new diplomatic relationship between Israel and the UAE could mark the start of some form of peace between some of the Arab nations and Israel. Whether this is a genuine attempt by some Islamic nations to do away with some of the Jew hatred that has driven the divide between Arab and Israeli is something that only time will tell.

Brian of London has some interesting thoughts on this new Israel / UAE relationship, some positive and some negative. I concur with him that there is the possibility that this is not driven by altruism but by the UAE’s geo political and economic concerns and also that this may turn out to not be a lasting peace, but merely a ‘ceasefire’.
