California has for at least one hundred years been a place where people rushed to. They rushed for gold, for fame in the film and media industries and for the work opportunities that were not available in other states because of disasters such as the 1930’s Dustbowl in the Midwest. Now, because of political and economic mismanagement California and in particular the city of San Francisco has become a place where people rush from. California is a tragedy, an area that has turned from land of opportunity to a basket case.

California has been horrifically mismanaged by the political Left. It is a place of high taxes, onerous restrictions on business and a worsening quality of life. Places like San Francisco are plagued by an influx of often drug addicted homeless people coming there from other states in the USA because of the toleration shown to them by the California lefties. This has led to problems with open public defecation on the streets of the city along with an epidemic of theft and violence caused in part by the decision by the city and the state’s government to not prosecute what they refer to as minor crimes.

Things are bad in San Francisco and in the wider state, but the State government’s response to the Coronavirus situation has made things infinitely worse. The economy of the state has been virtually shut down completely by government lockdown edict killing an insane number of small businesses many of which were already suffering from the aforementioned high taxes and onerous restrictions imposed by the Left. Whilst all this deliberate destruction of the economy of California and its cities has gone on, the state has allowed the crazy Marxists of the Black Lives Matter movement to run riot, sometimes literally, in the streets. Areas like Venice Beach have been allowed to become the site of protests even though nearby businesses have been shut down on government order. Without the businesses being open there has been a fall in donations from businesses to help the burgeoning number of homeless that have congregated in the area and we could be seeing a human tragedy of starvation and anarchy occurring in what was once one of the most wealthy areas on the planet.

As an outside observer of what is going on in California and in its cities such as San Francisco, I was aware of some of the problems but not aware of the granular detail. That granular detail has been amply supplied by the YouTuber Nerdotic who, along with his wife, is fleeing California for a part of the US that is less mad and dystopian. In the video below he tells of how his wife’s successful hair salon was forcibly closed by the State government due to Coronavirus and that this forced closure has affected hundreds of other businesses as well. Nerdotic and his family are lucky, they can move but for those who cannot they are cursed to live in the interesting times that the Left has afflicted California with. According to Nerdotic, approximately 50% of the businesses that have been shuttered in San Francisco due to the state’s overreaction to Covid, may never reopen. Nerdotic and his family are getting out, they are going to a red Republican state and starting over and he was emphatic in saying that he will NOT be bringing with him the sort of politics that has ruined California.
