A bad British export to the USA.

John Oliver the US propagandist

Britain has exported some pretty bad things to the United States of America over the centuries, ranging from the Morris Marina car to a bunch of unruly soldiery who burned down the White House during the regrettable unpleasantness of 1814. However, two videos from American commentators, Stephen Crowder and Liberal Hivemind, have made me realise that Britain still exports crap to the USA.

I speak here of John Oliver (wiki bio here) an alleged comedian and even more alleged political commentator. I say ‘alleged political commentator’ as Mr Oliver has become more of a propagandist than a commentator as a commentator should at least recognise that there are two sides to any argument, something which Mr Oliver doesn’t often do.

Although Mr Oliver is no longer the United Kingdom’s problem, having taken up US citizenship in late 2019, he is sadly a big problem for my American friends. By the way, I don’t want John Oliver back as Britons have enough problems already with left wing elitists in positions of authority.

In this first video from Mr Oliver and featured by Mr Crowder, he shows some ignorance of how the US Constitution works. The USA is a Constitutional Republic and not a pure democracy as the founders were sceptical about pure democracies and their ability to be hijacked by transient political and social currents. In the USA, unlike in the UK where the Government, legislature, the judiciary and the Established church are intricately linked together, there is a separation of powers. Whilst Congress composed of the House of Representatives along with the Senate and the presidency are voted for and are subject to electoral whims or trends, the job of the Supreme Court is to be a constant, somewhat above the hurly burly and transience of politics and a protector and interpreter of the Constitution. In this video, it is apparent that Mr Oliver does not understand this aspect of US governance.

The other video that I’d like to feature and advise you to watch is from a channel that I’m watching a lot more of these days which is Liberal Hivemind. What is interesting about this channel is that the person behind this channel seems to have made a similar journey to me which is from the Centre Left to the Centre Right. In fact Liberal Hivemind credits Mr Oliver in this video with helping to start his journey from the Left to conservatism because he started to notice the discrepancy between what Mr Oliver was saying and what Liberal Hivemind was observing in his everyday life.

Liberal Hivemind referred to Mr Oliver as a ‘partisan hack’ with an inexplicably large cult following. I would like to add that belonging to a cult, especially one led by the likes of Mr Oliver, is unlikely to end well.

Like Steven Crowder, Liberal Hivemind reiterates the fact that the Supreme Court is not directly voted for, it is above politics. I agree with Liberal Hivemind’s opinion on Mr Oliver which is that he is now little more than a left wing propagandist. Liberal Hivemind also pointed out that Mr Oliver ignores the stories that should be aired, such as the current problems that the USA is currently having with postal voting. I’m not an American, but I know enough about the US Constitution to know that there is nothing preventing President Trump from filling the vacant Supreme Court seat. Maybe people like John Oliver and those like him should go and take a basic course in US governance but somehow I doubt even that would stop them being outrageous propagandists.

When you think the Left can’t get any worse with their bile and vitriol, they do. People should be getting sick of it by now

Maybe we could do deals: We take Milo Yiannopoulos back, they take Gary Lineker & Graham Norton

You may have a point regarding Mr Hilton. I don’t think that Milo would return as now has an American partner and also his rights to speak freely, which he has in the USA, would be considerably curtailed if he returned to the UK. What have the poor Yanks done to deserve Lineker and Norton? LOL
