I would urge readers of this blog to watch the 22 minute video from the Lotus Eaters podcast. It is by Carl Benjamin and his colleague and is about proposals by the English law commission to make ‘Islamophobic’ cartoons illegal. In effect it will make it punishable by a gaol term of up to seven years for putting out a cartoon that a Muslim finds themselves ‘offended’ by. Some of the documentation that is shown on this video gives us the names of some quite well known figures who are favourable to the idea of censorship of Islam critical content and who also have influence in government circles.

The Law Commission is run by David Greene, a lawyer who openly admits that he has been a member of the Communist Party in the past and also a member of the Labour Party. I must admit that someone with that pedigree and a person who has said that they conduct politics by way of the courtroom, is not anybody whom I would trust to protect freedom of speech.

The plans by the Law Commission to further eviscerate the free speech of Britons is being challenged by the Free Speech Union and the matter has gone out for public consultation. I would urge readers to support the Free Speech Union’s challenge to this abomination of a proposal and also to make your pro-free speech views known via the consultation which is linked below.
