Tulsi Gabbard one of the Representatives from the State of Hawaii is using her final weeks of her term as a Democrat Representative in the US House of Representatives to do stuff that I wholeheartedly support and which would clearly come into the category of common sense. Ms Gabbard is one of those rare politicians of the centre Left who has a moral compass that actually appears to function.

One of the things that I find the need to dish out praise to Ms Gabbard for is her recent Bill in the House of Representatives. She has brought in a Federal bill to protect women and girls who are engaged or involved in sport from being outclassed by athletes who are natal males. Too often we have seen mediocre male athletes who make the claim that they are now female and compete in women’s sports. Because of the bodily advantages that the natal males have over natal females, the natal females are being trounced in almost every sport that involves physical strength or endurance. The involvement of male to female transsexuals or those who claim to be such, is killing sport for women and girls. Records are being broken by natal male trans athletes that can never be bettered by natal females and this is messing up the record of achievement of natal female athletes.

Ms Gabbard’s bill will, if passed, prevent those Federal funding going to states and sport organisations who allow those who were born male to compete in categories of sport reserved for women and girls. This in my view is something that should have been done years ago when trans activists first started to push for trans athletes to compete against women, but sadly it was not. Too many sport administrators in various states of the USA and indeed worldwide, buckled under to pressure from trans activists and allowed natal males to compete against women with disastrous results for natal girls and women. Sport administrators basically threw natal female athletes under the proverbial bus in order to virtue signal to the trans activists, something in my view which should never ever have happened.

The New York Post is reporting this new bill and said:

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) have introduced a bill to Congress that would “protect women’s sports” based on participants’ biological sex, according to reports.

The “Protect Women’s Sports Act” seeks to clarify that Title IX protections for female athletes are “based on biological sex,” Gabbard and Mullin said in a statement.

Title IX protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in educational programs or activities that receive federal funding.

Quite right too. Sport should be open to all whether they be male or female and the reason why there are separate categories for men and women in sport is because one gender, males, are generally physically stronger and have greater endurance than females. It would be grossly unfair to women and girls to allow men and boys to compete against them due to the very great differences in physical make up.

No government, whether that of the USA or any other nation should be in the business of funding sports organisations that by allowing men to compete against women in sports that involve physicality, greatly disadvantage women. Such activity is a prime definition of unfairness and a non-level playing field.

Of course the transgender activists are up in arms about this and are whining loudly. The New York Post said one transgender focussed organisation criticised this new bill.

The New York Post added:

Transgender activists and their allies promptly slammed the legislation, which they described as “blatantly transphobic.”

“Tulsi Gabbard is now introducing a blatantly transphobic piece of legislation aimed at trans and non-binary young people,” civil rights activist Charlotte Clymer said in a tweet.

All I can say to this is ‘they would say that wouldn’t they’? This is I’m afraid typical of the attitude of transgender organisations. They don’t seem to care one little bit about whether their demands will disadvantage or endanger other people in other groups, just as long as they get their own way and have society agree to their own selfish demands. They don’t care that the inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sport is killing women’s sport just as they don’t care that there are many women who are fearful of natal men being in purely female areas such as open plan changing rooms. What these transgender groups want is not equality, but advantage and these groups need to be countered in order to prevent them from getting the advantages over others that they so desire.

There is of course a way around the issue of trans people and sport. Nobody, least of all myself, would want to deny trans people the right to take part in sport, but it needs to be done in such a way that it does not advantage trans competitors nor disadvantage natal females. The way around the issue of trans people who want to take part in competitive sport is for there to be separate trans competitions and trans leagues. We would not after all countenance the supreme unfairness of putting a disabled runner with one leg up against Usain Bolt would we? Which is why there are separate competitions for athletes with disabilities. It’s fairer for the disabled athletes and pits the non-disabled athletes against similar competitors to give an accurate measure of achievement.

Will trans activist groups accept such a compromise, a sensible one that protects all, especially natal women and girls? Would they bugger. Trans activists will not be satisfied until they’ve displaced natal women from all areas of life whether that be sport or women’s refuges, rape crisis centres or the very hard fought for other women only spaces that have been created. That is the reality. It is because of this reality that campaigns like that of Tulsi Gabbard and others who are acting to protect girls and women from having their rights eroded by trans activists should be supported.
