I awake this morning to news of complete chaos in Washington DC. Getting a handle on what has happened there is difficult owing to the sheer number of conflicting stories coming out of the city and Big Tech censorship, but what we do know is this: There was a gathering of Trump supporting US patriots that was at least one million people strong and at one part in the rally, a group broke away from the main rally and stormed the Capitol building. Four, some say five people were killed due to police gunfire including a woman and a US Airforce veteran.
As a person who is fully behind the idea of parliamentary democracy and the rule of law I am appalled by the violence in DC just as I was appalled by the BLM/Marxist/Antifa violence that engulfed dozens of US cities during the course of 2020. Like others, such as Andrew Torba of Gab I believe that political violence is wrong no matter who does it, whether that be the political violence of the State or the political violence of non-state actors.
The mainstream media is, of course, blaming President Trump for all the chaos. However it should not be forgotten that this is the same mainstream media that misreported the riots incited and carried out by the BLM/Marxists/Antifa as ‘mostly peaceful protests’. The MSM that is decrying the violence in DC is also the MSM that sometimes acted as cheerleaders for the violent anti-Trump left over the past year.
As someone who has been tasked in the past with photographing public disorder incidents for the Press, I believe that sadly some degree of violence is to be somewhat expected when you have massive crowds of people angry at something. Whilst the vast majority of the Trump supporters were peaceful and were more in fear of violence from Antifa and other leftists than anything else, such a large crowd of people are bound to have within them elements that are just there for the physical fight. I’ve seen it with CND demos in the 1980’s with the ubiquitous ‘Brew Crew’, so named because of their copious consumption of strong Special Brew lager, who chanted ‘bombs not jobs’ continuously. It would be inconcievable to imagine a crowd as large as this not having within it their own version of the ‘Brew Crew’.
America contains a lot of angry people at present and the country is horrifically politically divided, although not for the first time. There has been an increasing number of claims that the election has been carried out in a manner that would not be out of place in a banana republic with postal voting without adequate safeguards being encouraged by the political Left. It has also raised ire among conservatives that these votes, both the in person ones and the postal votes, were allegedly being counted by those who are political opponents of President Trump with Republican Party observers being kept out of the counting rooms.
There are, of course, alternative explanations that are circling around. The one that I found most notable is that the first charge against the Capitol building was carried out by Antifa in order to discredit Trump supporters. I will of course look to see if this allegation firms out into truth if evidence comes out for it, but it is not beyond the bounds of probabilities that a far left violent group could see an advantage in fomenting violence in their opposition either by encouraging potentially violent elements in their opposition or posing as the opposition themselves.
Some confirmation that the attack on the Capitol building were the actions of the American equivalent of the ‘Brew Crew’ and made up an absolute minority among the Trump supporters in DC, comes from the Federalist whose reporter on the scene stated that many of the Trump supporters condemned the violence and were ‘none too pleased’ about it. This strikes me as being correct as I have observed from afar the actions and character of those who make up the bulk of Trump supporters and they are not, in the main, violent, they are just ordinary Americans who support President Trump and abhor the sort of policies that the Left would impose on America.
As I said this is a very confused story afflicted by Big Tech censorship that has seen President Trump’s Twitter and Facebook accounts locked even it is said to the extent that his ‘disperse peacefully’ message to the demonstrators was censored. It is also an ongoing story that will no doubt develop as the day goes by. I shall of course bring any updates to this story that I can when I’ve gone through the various sources.
The violence was from police. Protest was mass civil disobedience, they destroyed nothing. No looting, arson, murders by protesters
When 30% of Dems believe election rigged for Biden, USA is a volatile swamp waiting to explode. Shame on Judges for refusing to hear cases by putting their life above their country and law
