A contact of this blog sent me a story from the Jewish Telegraph, a British regional Jewish newspaper. It shows the utter and complete madness of identity politics and how it is being applied in the world of trade unions.
It’s a topsy turvy world where people are judged and categorised on their skin colour and where some groups have less right to an identity than others. I can’t put a link up to the original Jewish Telegraph article as it is behind a paywall but this is what I’ve been sent.
MAN WITH JEWISH HERITAGE FORCED TO LABEL HIMSELF BLACK
A decision by the National Education Union to force a man with Jewish heritage to label himself ‘black’ has been branded as “an absurd and dangerous inverted form of Aryanism” by the Campaign Against Antisemitism.
Jason Wardill, 42, was made, by the NEU, to register himself as black, despite having Italian Jewish roots.
He only realised this had happened when he was recently invited to a meeting of black teachers.
An NEU spokesman told the Jewish Telegraph that they “use the term Black when communicating about some Union activities to members who self-identify as Black, Asian or any other minority ethnic groups who do not identify themselves as white”.
But the chief executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism Gideon Falter said: “At the NEU, the once noble practice of identifying minorities in order to enable their advancement has now degenerated into an absurd and dangerous inverted form of Aryanism.
“Under the NEU’s contorted logic, ‘white’ and ‘black’ are no longer useful or meaningful categories of racial identity but are instead political labels used to promote a divisive agenda.”
I’m completely gobsmacked by this and also greatly concerned. After all this is the sort of madness that is being promoted by the Trade Union that represents the bulk of Britain’s school teachers. Whilst this incident may be the work of ‘out there’ leftist activists in the NEU, it does make me wonder whether any of this lunacy has seeped into the staffrooms and classrooms of Britain’s schools.
This is, as Gideon Falter said, a ‘dangerous and inverted form of Aryanism’ being practised by the NEU as it is forcing Jews to identify with groups that they do not belong to. Whilst there are some Black Jews in Britain, both in the Orthodox and non-Orthodox communities, it is completely wrong to deny Jews an identity and compel them to identify as something that they are not. What was the NEU thinking when it created this lunacy? My contact said that under this appalling scheme his Jewish friend who is of Russian extraction and has very pale skin, would be classified by the NEU as ‘Black’. With racial classifications like this in a Trade Union of all places I suspect that Martin Luther King Jr must be spinning in his grave right now. This is a divisive act and unnecessarily so.
