If you are a regular reader of this particular strand then you will know that one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a member of a religious minority is in Pakistan. This is because Pakistan is dominated, both socially and politically, by some of the worst forms of Islam on the planet. Imagine a place where all the bad aspects of Islam, the intolerance of others of different faiths, the woeful treatment of women and violence were expressed and to a large extent socially accepted and you would have a pretty good idea of just how bad Pakistan is.
Pakistan is a place where non-Muslims such as Christians, Hindus and Sikhs as well as heterodox Muslims like the Ahmediyya, live in constant fear. They live in fear of being accused of the ‘offence’ of ‘blasphemy’ which in Pakistan is a capital offence, they live in fear of kidnap, of forced conversion to Islam and also in fear of violence.
Today’s tale from the shithole that is Pakistan is about a Christian woman who refused the advances of a Muslim man and refused to convert to Islam on his instruction and who was brutally murdered for doing so. The report carried on the Premier Christian News website about the death of 24 year old Sonia Bibi, is not a ‘one off’ religiously inspired murder, as these murders happen all the time in Pakistan and they contribute to the state of terror that Pakistani Christians live under.
Premier Christian News said:
A Christian woman in Pakistan was shot multiple times in the head after refusing to marry a Muslim man and convert to Islam.
According to Christian persecution watchdog Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), police are searching for Muhammad Shehzad, a Muslim man, who allegedly killed 24-year-old Sonia Bibi at a bus stop in Rawalpindi, close to Islamabad.
The suspect’s so-called co-conspirator, known as Faizan, has been taken into custody following the incident on 30th November.
Faizan is reported to have picked up Sonia on a motorbike and taken her to meet Shehzad who then attacked on the woman.
Sources close to ACN say that, just days before her death, Bibi and her family refused Shehzad’s marriage proposal.
The Premier Christian News site then went onto talk about the dire situation for Pakistani Christians in general and also mentioned another case of a woman who lives in fear of her life that of Maria Shahbaz. Ms Shahbaz continues to receive a constant barrage of death threats from Pakistani Muslims after she escaped from a forced marriage and conversion to Islam.
Premier quotes a worker from a group called Action for the Church in Need with regards to the Shahbaz case. The representative of ACN is calling for Ms Shahbaz to be given sanctuary in the United Kingdom.
However, although I would support such a move, as she genuinely lives in fear of her life, I wonder how wise it would be bringing Ms Shahbaz to the UK? This is because with such a large Pakistani Muslim diaspora in the UK it is doubtful whether Ms Shahbaz would be any more safe from death threats from Muslims in the UK than she would in some other country that doesn’t have such a large Pakistani diaspora. It is after all not unheard of for Pakistani Britons to continue Pakistani based religious hatreds whilst in the UK. We cannot for example forget the case of Asad Shah the Ahmedi Muslim shopkeeper who was murdered by a mainstream Muslim taxi driver from Yorkshire for Mr Shah’s ‘crime’ in the eyes of his murderer, of wishing his Christian customers a Happy Easter. We have so many hate filled Pakistani Muslims in the UK that maybe Ms Shahbaz might be safer somewhere else other than Britain?
Pakistan is a terrible place to be a religious minority. It is also a place that serves as a cautionary tale as to what happens when a country allows itself to be run and governed by some of the most disgusting forms of Islam that the world has ever seen.
There are no good forms of islam.
There are subsets of the Ismailis that have managed to throw out the worst bits of Islam, they don’t oppress women or engage in mindless hatred. There’s been an Ismaili mosque in London for decades, I believe that it was funded by the Aga Khan and unlike with Sunni or Shia establishments I’ve never come across any terrorism or extremism coming out of it. I’m willing to accept those who do throw out the nastiness and the jihad and the lying to non Muslims and I think that we do somewhat of a disservice to those who reject the hatred and terror in the Koran and the Hadith by saying ALL Muslims or ALL forms of Islam. I’m as wary of Islam as the next Infidel but I find it difficult to condemn those who are from pathways that are not a problem.
