Quote of the Day 12th July 2021 – Communism the ever failing ideology.
Found this one from Guido Fawkes by a commentator who goes by the moniker of ‘Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells’. It was a comment made in the context of the current protests and anti government disturbances that are occurring in Cuba. I will be writing in more depth about the Cuban situation later on but I thought that this comment summed up why socialism and communism, an ideology that has killed nigh on a hundred million people and impoverished and oppressed millions more, is such a terrible thing.
I worked behind the Iron Curtain between 1979-1990 and all the shops were always empty except the Beryozka (where everything was available in hard currency – just like that special shopping zone in Brussels for EU workers). There was nothing to buy in any of the shops. Police on every street corner.
East German Police would demand Deutche Marks for (trumped up) road infractions and I would only ever offer the Ost Marks which they didn’t want. I said I was happy to go to jail as I’d done nothing wrong.
People in these countries were frightened to talk to anyone… They had perhaps two maybe three trusted friends.
Now we have this in the UK where students are frightened to say what they think…

Yes indeed, the Left is truly evil. I’m old enough to remember when Communism ruled half of Europe and how the people in the Communist bloc were severely oppressed. I’m also old enough to remember how ‘socialist accountancy’ turned potentially viable African nations into economic basket cases and how socialism created societies that were often just prisons with borders.
