Have you ever opened up a long expected parcel and found that what you ordered was not what you got? How about going on a date with someone from a dating site and finding that they are not as attractive as they portrayed themselves to be and could in fact be a good contender for the Swamp Donkey of the Year Award?
These sort of things are really disappointing and leave a very bad taste in the mouth along with a strong sense of shame that you’ve allowed yourself to be conned into buying into either a financial or a romantic scam. It’s the sinking feeling akin to opening a box of chocolates and finding that every single chocolate in the box is the one you absolutely hate the most.
I felt a similar sinking feeling when I looked at the roster of speakers at the ‘Freedom Rally’ in London’s Trafalgar Square yesterday. Whilst I believe that the UK government has made some big errors about how they’ve handled the Coronavirus outbreak, wonder whether the lockdowns really were the most effective policy to counter covid and believe that internal vaccine certification plan has within it the prospect of discrimination, I don’t think I could have, in all good conscience, stood with the moonbats who were speaking at Trafalgar Square. I dislike and worry about how the Government has managed covid but I would no more stand with and protest with the mental-cases that turned out yesterday than I would protest with the National Front about other matters that concern me such as extremist Islam or excessive migration. If I did then it would utterly discredit myself and my cause.
What we had on the stage judging by some of the various feeds that I’ve seen were not people who had sensible and valid questions about how the UK government has managed covid, but the worst of the worst of the anti vaccine movement along with people who have zero concept of how science works or how telecommunications works. These demonstrators have achieved nothing apart from going a long way to discrediting those who have sensible questions to ask the political classes about how they’ve managed the covid pandemic.
Let’s just look at some of the utter and complete shite on display here. You have a disgraced nurse, Kate Shemirani who was struck off the nursing register because of her anti vaccine lunacy banging on about how vaccines are the work of Satan, Mark Steele, a man who erroneously believes that non-ionising radio waves of exceedingly low power are some sort of ‘energy weapon’ and a retired GP, Vernon Coleman who makes the exceedingly erroneous claim that covid is influenza rebranded. All three major claims that these three deluded individuals have made can be shown to be false by just a little scientific knowledge. There was also an appearance by the nation’s favourite laughing stock Piers Corbyn.
Probably one of the biggest disappointments for me was seeing David Kurten a former UKIP London Assembly member and leader of the Heritage Party making the false claim that the covid vaccines are ‘experimental injections’. The truth is they are not. They ceased to be experimental when they finished their testing. Vaccines are, and I said this at the start of the pandemic, the only way we will get out of this problem of covid just as vaccines were the only way that we got free of the horrors of Smallpox and why my child has a better chance of living a healthy life than any generation before him. I feel incredibly guilty that I at one point publicly stated that Mr Kurten’s Heritage Party was a potential sensible repository for the votes of social conservatives who have been let down by the current Conservative Party. If I’d known that he was an anti vaccination wanker then I would not have given his party my public support.
Of course an event such as this would not be complete without the presence of the conspiraloon and woo uber-grifters in the form of David Icke and his son Gareth. This pair have made an enormous amount of money from feeding bollocks to the gullible by way of books and talks that have made laughable claims about how the world is run and at one point were claiming that the world was run by ‘lizard people’. I would guess that they are also making a lot of money out of gullible anti vaccine and covid deniers or at least are viewing these groups of people as a potential cash cow for the future.
After sunset last night I watched the account of this demonstration unfold on the Twitter account of Christopher Snowdon of the Velvet Glove, Iron Fist blog and was absolutely horrified by what saw taking place in Trafalgar Square. These were not sensible opponents of lockdowns or those asking pertinent and intelligent questions about how the UK government has handled Covid or its effects on civil liberties and the economy, it’s lunatics all the way through and a large proportion of those speaking and attending appear to be of the anti vaccination variety of lunatics.
Below are a small proportion of Mr Snowden’s Tweets and they tell me all I needed to know about the bunch of mountebanks that occupied the stage in Trafalgar Square yesterday and who attended.
What we’ve seen in Trafalgar Square was not a rally for freedom, civil liberties and non-discrimination or a protest about the very poor way that the government was prepared for a pandemic or how it is handled it. It was a parade of science deniers, biology deniers, conspiracy grifters and anti vaccine idiots and that was just what was promoted on the stage. There’s no way on earth would I want to be seen supporting the sorts of people who believe in ‘demons’ or that ‘Satan is in a vaccine’ or who misrepresent the Nuremberg Code or who believe in ‘lizard people’.
Maybe it is now time for those who attended this rally thinking that it might be one where they could voice their concerns about lockdowns and civil liberties to consider whether they’ve been conned by the fraggles and mountebanks who occupied the stage in Trafalgar Square yesterday? There is shame in being conned,I feel it over my previous support for David Kurten’s Heritage Party, but we can resolve to to erase that shame by not allowing ourselves to get fooled again and be more intelligently critical of those bearing crazy sounding gifts such as ‘vaccines cause autism’ or ‘5G phones are a form of mind control’.
Yet the left can totally embrace their fruitcakes. The whole lot of them are so detached from reality that one more looney makes no difference. They get away with it by using censorship.
Yeah I feel that I have the moral duty to distance myself from the moonbats and fruitcakes who self identify as being on ‘my side’, the left on the other hand do indeed embrace their loonies and don’t seem to feel any shame about them. You are correct the less hide their loonies by way of censorship.
I knew that this particular demonstration was a hijacked bust, as soon as I saw the list of loons due to speak, Corbyn, Icke, Icke and other Konspiracy Kretins. The mere presence of “palestine” genocide rags, confirmed the wisdom of keeping well away.
David Kurten has done himself no favours sharing a platform with demonstrable cranks and will contaminate the image of the Heritage Party.
I am currently a member, but these associations, however peripheral worry me.
I fully intend to run for Council again, but this has confirmed that it will be as an Independent.
However tenuously the association, I want nothing to do with being linked in any way to the conspiratorial, avowedly anti-semitic shite-hounds with whom David shared a platform.
As for the vaccine issue. I too have very serious concerns as to its efficacy, whether it actually works as well as it’s supposed to, and long term effects, but that’s my choice and it’s noty business to tell people either way.
I’m afraid that Covid has claimed another victim, riding on the back of that other dangerous infection, Marxistii Fascistiitis, and it’s dreadful variant Necrotising Palestosis the mind eating bug that rots souls from within.
This is indeed an interesting comment. Like many others I have doubts about the efficacy of lockdowns and am astonished at the incompetence of HMG’s management of the issue and their readiness to blame the public and attempt to restrict the public via covid vaccine certification as a means of covering up their own cock ups. My view is that HMG should have properly war gamed for a new non influenza virus hitting Britain but they did not, they concentrated almost entirely with planning on flu.
Maybe there was a need for a demonstration against the way the government has handled things but as you say it was obvious that it was a bust as soon as Corbyn and Icke were listed as speakers.
As regards Mr Kurten I absolutely agree. He’s done him and his party no favours by associating with these loons. However the problem is worse than the mere association with the loons, on Gab he’s been defending the crank ex nurse Shemirani see https://gab.com/davidkurten/posts/106645603183724812
I think that you are doing the right thing running as an Independent rather than being linked to Heritage. It’s a damned shame that Mr Kurten has killed his party by associating with and promoting anti vax lunatics. Heritage could have been a good vehicle for social conservatives but he’s ruined it.
Re the vaccine, it was never advertised as having 100% efficacy and some breakthrough infections were almost guaranteed and I believe that we may need to look at update shots to take into account various variants. The good thing about mRNA tech is it allows update shots for variants to be manufactured very quickly when compared to previous vaccine technicques.
Yeah the presence of ‘Palestine’ flags is never a good sign when it comes to demonstrations.
Edit – I’ve got an article about Mr Kurten killing off his own party in the pipeline.
