There is an old saying that you should never wash your dirty linen in public because if you do then all your faults will be on display. Sadly the UK Labour Party has not appeared to learn such a lesson and have yet again presented the British public with oodles of reasons why they should not be voted for or seen as a credible alternative government.
The latest example of Labour Party knobwittery comes from the furore that has been kicked up over the Labour MP for Canterbury in Kent Rosie Duffield who merely liked a Tweet from a gay man who complained that Transgenders were ‘cosplaying’ as women. The Labour LGBT group have kicked off a quite unnecessary shitstorm over this very minor incident and demanded that Ms Duffield have the Labour whip removed from her and be suspended from the party because of ‘transphobia’. The Labour Party itself has made this situation worse by starting an investigation into Ms Duffield’s conduct.
This is a very public spat between those such as Ms Duffield who believe in biological reality and the Labour LGBT group who plainly do not. Because Labour are washing this sort of dirty linen in public it’s further poisoning the image of the Labour Party in the minds of the public.
Labour, if it really does want to be a party of government should not be kow towing to a miniscule minority of trans activists over issues such as this. It does nothing to persuade those who want to see the economy managed properly, school standards improved, all British subjects treated equally under the law and Britain properly defended from threats both foreign and domestic, that Labour can do such things. Pointless and damaging arguments in public like this just make Labour look like a lunatic asylum. I don’t know about you but I don’t really want lunatics running my nation but it seems that with Labour lunatics is what you get.
Britain has, for better or worse, a two party system, but for it to function properly it needs to have two parties that are seen by the public as equally competent in managing and defending the nation. Sadly because of Labour’s very public and visible incompetence, we don’t have that and the Tories can basically do what they damned well want secure in the knowledge that Labour will always supply the rope that they will politically hang themselves with.
