It seems that the former (now suspended from the party) Labour ‘brainlet’ Claudia Webbe is facing justified criticism from some members of the Labour Party.
One Labour member from the North of England, Jack McKenna, has said this about Claudia Webbe and her decision to write an article for the Communist Morning Star newspaper.
Ha ha nice one! I quite agree. She’s not a part of the Labour Party any more, she shouldn’t be writing for Communist papers that are antithetical to Labour’s core values and should not be using Labour Party logos on her bio. I also tend to agree that she should stand down and force a by-election soon rather than waiting to see what occurs with her upcoming trial in November for harassing a woman. Whilst agreeing that she should be treated as innocent until proven guilty, it doesn’t help her constituents to have an MP who is suspended from the party that they voted for and if these voters chose a Labour candidate then they should be represented by someone who is not suspended from the party.
MMMmmm. Tricky one there. If she is suspended on an allegation then that doesn’t impact her ability to do her job. She can still represent her constituents just not her party. So why should she force a by-election?
On the other hand if she is found guilty then that should force her to lose her seat and she can stand again and let the plebs decide. However, as they were dumb enough to vote labour in the first place if she retains her nose she would be fine.
Agree that it is tricky but the local people voted for a Labour MP and now they have an MP who is not part of the party that they voted for. In a way it’s a similar situation to that of Jeremy Corbyn who has also lost the Labour Whip. The voters in his constituency chose a Labour candidate and now they have an independent. This is one of the perennial problems that come from a system where the voters vote primarily for a candidate not a party. Someone can change parties mid term or be removed from a party that the local people chose the candidate on the basis of. Mind you the voters in her seat would vote for a dog turd if it was adorned with a Labour rosette, don’t forget that this was once Keith Vaz’s seat. Not being part of the party might be an issue for those who chose her on the grounds of party.
I and others have been particularly unimpressed by Ms Webbe’s performance both in Parliament and without and I doubt that she’s serving her constituents well whether part of the party or not.
