Not content with flying banners containing the words ‘we only have to be lucky once’, words associated with the IRA which were said by them following the Brighton bomb attack on the Tory party conference in 1984, leftists are now engaging in violence against conference participants.
According to a report in the Spectator magazine, former Tory leader Ian Duncan Smith was attacked by a leftist thug who threw a road cone at Mr Duncan Smith. There are no reports that Mr Duncan Smith was seriously injured but reports on Twitter say that five people have been arrested by Greater Manchester Police in connection with the incident.
The Spectator said:
Iain Duncan Smith, the former leader of the Conservative party, has been assaulted by a group of men on his route to an event at the Mercure hotel.
Duncan Smith arrived at a Brexit panel with Cabinet office minister Lord Frost, only to disappear midway through to discuss the incident with a police officer who took a statement from him. Speaking afterwards, he told Steerpike that he was pursued down the road from the Midland hotel to the Mercure by several men, one of whom threw a traffic cone which hit him on the head.
The Twitter report on the arrests said:
It is sadly typical of the Left to engage in political violence. We saw this during the Referendum campaign where Nigel Farage was assaulted by Leftists and as usual they bring their political violence to the Tory party conference. These plastic revolutionaries do nothing for their cause and make them look exactly what they are which is intolerant thugs.
