Silence about the threat we face

Samuel Paty murdered by a Jihadist one year ago.

On Friday France fell silent in memory of Samuel Paty the French teacher who was murdered a year ago by Jihadists because he was stood up for the concept of freedom of speech during a school lesson. He was murdered by a Chechen Islamic savage who came to France as a ‘refugee’ who after the killing was rightfully shot dead by French police.

Across France school pupils remembered and mourned Samuel Paty with a minutes silence. That is both laudable and understandable.

What is less understandable is the silence in Britain, not a silence in memory of Mr Paty, but silence about his murder. This silence has gone on in Britain for the whole year since Mr Paty was slaughtered, it’s as if everyone in any position of public authority or with any connection to government and the administraton of the nation has decided, let’s keep silent on Paty lest the headchoppers come for us next.

In Britain there has been no official fuss about Mr Paty’s death, no high profile tributes from the Establishment or meaningful statements from the Government. In response to Mr Paty’s death there has been only silence from those who could have said something and who could have stood up for freedom of speech. This silence has been complete and only punctuated by the uttering by the Establishment of that most dishonest of lies, the claim that Islam ‘is a religion of peace’.

I remember and mourn Mr Paty whilst our leaders cower and behave in a craven manner before Islamists. It should not have to be this way.

It shouldn’t, no. But it will continue, after a brief pause.
