There’s been an incident in the Norwegian capital of Oslo which has all the hallmarks of another lone wolf attack by a person ‘known’ to the authorities and could also be an attack by an Islamic extremist.
According to a report by Associated Press, a report that worryingly leaves out some key details which I’ll comment on later, a man went apeshit with a knife in Oslo threatening passers by. Police intervened and tried to stop the knifeman from doing any more damage by driving their car at them. The knifeman attacked the police officers which resulted in the police shooting dead the suspect.
Here’s the AP report with the original text in italics and my commentary in plain text. AP said:
A man reportedly armed with a knife threatened passers-by on the streets of the Norwegian capital, Oslo, on Tuesday, before being shot dead by police, officials said.
I wonder how the passers by were being threatened? Was it just with the knife or was the knifeman saying or shouting something whilst making his threats? Was he shouting similar stuff that we’ve seen other knife attackers of this sort shout such as stuff about ‘the prophet’ or ‘allah hu akbar’? The AP article does not say.
Norwegian media published footage of the alleged attacker, naked from the waist up and wielding a knife. Police initially suggested that passers-by had been wounded, but later said that only one police officer was slightly hurt.
None of the MSM as far as I’ve found this morning are carrying this video. Could it be that it falls foul of taste and decency rules or is the attacker readily identifiable as one of the ‘New Norwegians’ from the Middle East and some media outlets want to hide that fact?
“We have so far no information that this is terror-related,” Senior Police Chief Egil Joergen Brekke told a news conference.
The words that are important in this sentence is ‘so far’. The nature of this incident, with an individual targeting random victims and having no regard for their own safety should the police turn up does smell very much like an Islamic attack. Of course it is quite possible that this incident is fully and firmly rooted in one of the mental illnesses that can be found in the DSM–V psychiatric manual, but it could also be caused by the mental illness that is not found in DSM-V, the mental sickness of extreme Islam.
“To us, this appears to be a stand-alone act, so that there is no reason to fear for the safety of the city for others. This is a person who is known to us in the past and who has a history,” Brekke told reporters.
Another person just went mad and threatened and then stabbed people. Doesn’t sound like one of the everyday Norwegians to me. I thought the Norwegians were mostly known for hydroelectric power, fish, their oil and gas industry and fighting back hard against the Germans in WWII, rather then engaging in random stabathons in city streets. It’s interesting to find out that this man was known to the police, what would be really informative is if we knew exactly what he was known for? Was it drunkenness, thievery, fighting in the street, sex crime or general aggression? I suppose that this could be his record or it might also be that his record contains other, more Islamic extremist related stuff?
The first reports to the police shortly before 9 a.m. were about a man with a knife running after another person, Brekke said. A nearby patrol car in the Bislett neighborhood of northern Oslo rushed to the scene and first tried to stop the man by running him down before it drove into a building between a flower shop and a cafe to halt the man’s progress.
The man managed to open the car door, police spokesman Torgeir Brenden said.
He said “several shots” were fired at the man but did not specify whether it was the police officers in the car who opened fire. Brenden said the perpetrator was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.
This bastard was seriously determined to kill someone. That much is obvious from reading this story. He was as determined to kill as an Islamic extremist would be and just like an Islamic extremist he didn’t seem to worry if he died in the quest to kill people. Now I’m not saying at this early stage that this attack and incident was definitely Islamic terrorism, but it certainly smells like it. I dare say that as time goes by more will be revealed and we will know the truth about what happened. However it’s right to note at this point that if this is Islam related then this is not the first time that a follower of Islam has gone mental and harmed people. Just a short while back a convert to Islam was arrested for killing five people with a bow and arrow and is now confined to a mental hospital. The jury’s out on this one. It could be savagery of an Islamic nature or it could be something else.
