Quote of the Day. 15th April 2022. A laugh at the Church of England.

Saw this BTL exchange on a Guido story about Boris Johnson’s surprise visit to Kiev. For context this was part of a sub-conversation about the role being played in the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine by the various Orthodox Churches along with the different theological and political positions these churches are taking.

Roger Hudson

Orthodoxy considers man and God in a mystical relationship, the CoE doesn’t even know what a relationship is.

Bluster

It doesn’t know what a woman is, either. Which is basically saying the same thing.

Sadly this short exchange does sum up the poor condition of much of the senior clerical management of the Church of England. The C of E appears to be dominated at the top level by those who unthinkingly grasp onto whatever is the latest social justice fad in an attempt to stay relevant whether it be indulging in handwringing over the alleged climate crisis, ululating at the behest of the BLM/Marxists and as it is at present, enthusiastically climbing aboard the trans bandwagon just as sensible people are starting to ask awkward questions about the Cult of Trans.

  1. Remember Harriet Harman’s support for PIE (Paedophile Information Exchange) whilst a Labour MP? These people have not gone away, they’re hiding in plain sight, still infesting all layers of government institutions.
Trans is just the latest iteration of this sickness.

  2. And I should add, within the CoE.

Has there been any blathering about the secularising of Easter this year? Since I got Spotify I don’t get to hear the radio news where these things generally get reported. A few years ago Archbishop Sentamu made a complete arse of himself accusing Cadbury of promoting egg hunts without mentioning Easter and emphasising how Cadbury as a company was founded by Christians.

He was wrong on so many levels it is hard to know where to start when taking him down. First the original accusation was false, the word Easter was all over the promotional material in question. Second the word Easter has nothing to do with Christianity anyway. Third Cadbury was founded by Quakers, a Christian sect that was actively persecuted by the CofE at the time.

Since this is the kind of idiot that the CofE promote to high office, it is hardly surprising that they are in a mess.

I haven’t heard that yet. However it has been a bit of a perennial statement from C of E high ups in the past. As for Sentamu and his comments, it might be the case that the c of e now considers the Quakers as Christians when it did not before.

  4. Yes, but probably an over-generalisation? Anglican churches vary widely as to where they are on the apparent conservative or liberal currents. Some for instance don’t accept female clergy, and others do.

Agree that there are different strands of Anglicanism. African Anglicanism is a bit different from what we see in the UK. The problem as I see it is that the higher echelons of the CofE too often seem to be made up of political activists rather than honest clerics.
